aye ok, well there in a mates house anyway. To cut a long story short SNH are on the case they went into the loft and said there are two roosts, one of which has over 100 bats in it. They were coming back on sunday to count them leaving the house, but i hav'nt heard the exact number yet.

Apart from the noise factor, and shitting all over conservatory roof :whistling: bats don't do you any real nuisance and they eat all them flying insects, can't see the point in killing them... they move aroud the house, well they do here, had them for a week in the kitchen wall cavities... all day chirping away !! now the're back upstairs on the landing !!

it's only your fear of them that would make you want to kill them... scared of the dark springs to mind... Leave the little beauties alone...

p.s. found a dead one in one of the bedrooms !!!

got a pic somewhere, couldn't believe how small they actually are !!!

They roost in our old sheds, you can see them flying about when it comes to dusk, my father had one let out a big screech when he lifted the coat one was hanging in, and my brother got a scare when one flew out of a bike helmet in one of the cattle houses

Here is a picture of a bat found when I was called out to a mouse problem in a loft, the property owner had made the easy mistake of thinking that the faeces he found all over the loft space was mice, they look identical .... fortunately I found this bat when doing the site survey.....so no treatment commenced and the bat man was called ;)

To be honest the sites full of dicks,i said what had happend not understanding or knowing nothing about the law regarding bats ok! I was enlightend by a prick about the law telling me to remove it blar blar blar angry bloke! If i recieved a pm or he quoted and said mate didnt you realise bats were protected animals and you get time for killing them and explained why in a gentenly manner then maybe i wouldnt have replied the way i did! If i was looking for any advice on any aspect of law regarding pests, running dogs, earth dogs etc this would be the last place i ask because theres too many mr f*****g know it all people on the site that are not willing to help someone regarding laws and just join the band wagon the sites full of sheep!

I've got to admit I do like this site, you meet all sorts!!!!!

Don't for fcks sake touch those bats, thier roost or anything to do with them!

English Nature will only prosecute if they are sure of success which means if you get to court you're knackered. Like badgers, bats have TOTAL protection which can mean prison.

So take a tip from me and leave the little fckers alone!!!!

Thanks for the one and only genuime reply mate, ive read all the laws on the since and maybe i was wrong but i wansnt to know! I see your a new member watch yourself step out of line and you get put amoungst the lions not good because when you bite back you get pm's from MOD's! Not good.

The problem with the original post is that you've openly said that you've killed a protected species.

Ignorance (not knowing that bats are protected) is no defence in law.

The majority of people on this forum are law abiding, and act in a responsible manner towards all animals. Killing an animal (even if it was'nt protected) with a tennis racket is also an offence under the protection of mammals act, to then come onto an internet forum and brag about what you've done is just a little silly.

If you are not sure about something, how hard is it to google it? If you put 'bat' into google, you would know just how protected they are within a couple of minutes, but no, lets go and 'tell the lads' how clever we are...........

If you post crap, you should expect some grief.

As far as the bats are concerned, not only are they protected, but so is their habitat. That means that blocking them out of a roost is also an offence. Learn to live with them; they are pretty harmless anyway, and some of their species are in serious decline.
