Ive had a good few out using cheese

 

marshmellows are a good thing use on top or trout pellet paste u can make it yourself using the pellets pour boiling water and crush them up in to a paste

then keep it in fridge 4 a day its worked for me in the past

if use boilies ,put some and some trout pellets in a blender ,make a soft paste that covers the hook and bait .after its been on the bottom for ten minutes it breaks down, leavin your hook bait lookin like its been on the bottom long time. has fooled a few of the bigger ones for me in lakes that have seen alot of pressure .

Dont get to hung up on bait.......any good food source that carp will eat and that can be purchased cheaply so that you can apply it correctly will do the trick.

 

Remember carp can eat a LOT!.......so you need to be able to apply your bait in the correct quantitys and to do this it must be cheap!

 

Depending on your budget, anything at £6 a kilo or less would be what I wanted to use

Good advice, especially if your bait is something the carp aren't wary of.

 

I use Morrisons 'Value' frozen sweetcorn, about 60p for nearly a kilo.

Carp bait is a subject that we could go on and on about, and theres many a book devoted to the wide veriety of baits that can be used to trick our quarry. Alot depends on what level of fishing your talking about, hard lowstock venues or easy highly stocked rod benders, are you waggle fishing or fishing on bite alarms ? theres alot of variables to consider also the stck of other nusance fish will play a role in bait choice.

The red peperami does work ive caught loads of carp on it iand i know some very hard venues that have fell to this when allaround were using boilies, sweetcorn is a winner, tigernuts are but dont over feed and buy them readydone, chick peas catch carp, beans, lunchen meat, cheese, maggots, worms, maple peas, dog biscuits, cat biscuits, cat meat, the list could go on and on lol, But the problem with these types of bait is that they have limited digestable goodness to carp so often the effectiveness has limited time span. The thing is carp need to consume 10 essential amino acids within there diet to promote health and growth, amino acids are the blocks of proteins, different ingredients have different protiens therefore they are richer in certain amino acids, this is where a good quality balanced boilie will outdo other baits time after time. Its bacause the contain most if not all of the essential amino acids that carp require, you may think well how do they know this ?,t hey know this because the are physically equipt with receptors to pick up and sense through the water amino acid signals, signals that humans are not equipt to sense. sweetcorn maybe rich in a certain amino acid lunchen meat another, and maggots another but they have a limited biological use to carp as thay still have another 9 essential amino acid to consume, so instead of waisting vital energy to feed on ting food items that dont forfill there dietry needs they will actively seek out a more fuller balanced food source of a higher amino count hence the boilie. but dont mistake this with cheap shelflife bait or even bulked out fred in the shed freezer baits, were talking quality uncut balanced food boilies here, not richworth titti frutites. Bacon grill or Sweetcorn with a drop of Scopex it does the trick.

Is it ok to use boilies on the lake? .. because some fisheries as you might know don't allow boilies, I've caught a good few carp dipping a tiger prawn boilie in scopex.

boilies are allowed.. just baught 6 packs of 100g boilies.. rasberry ripple, spicey sausage, strawberry mivvi, tutti frutti, bannana cream and white chocolate.

Sounds like youve been on ebay or something to buy some cheap bait, i am not being rude mate but these types of bait are utter shite, they have no goodness to the fish what so ever its just the flavour attracting the fish, its cost about 1 quid a kilo to make and is semolina and soya flour plus powderered colouring and a flavour.

also just went an baught some 12mm pre-drilledhalibut pellets called PelletO's or sumin by sonubaits... cale with a korum quichstop needle (baiting needle) and 2 boilie/ Hair rigs. for 1.99 in Tradegar Angling Centre
