The one 8,529
Dont you put total trust in your ferret evey time you stick your hand down a hole to remove a rabbit ?? your ferret could latch onto you then Quote Link to post
jay_h 2
i would never trust any animal with small children i wouldnt trust any child with an animal. if a child gets bitten its normaly the parents fault for not being there to see the early warning signs. none of my animals have ever show any sign of agression towards my children, i still wouldnt leave my boys alone with them. thats spot on mate Quote Link to post
ferreter.al 22
got a couple that i trust 100% and a few i trust less who have a bit more of an attitude,my best worker is a absolute nitemare when shes got kits, like a tiger, but all my other jills are fine but i trust them all enough to stroke them and that, same with my hobs, they can get face on at certain times of the year etc. Quote Link to post
woodga 170
the responsibility of hand tame ferrets lies soley with the owners if at the beginning of their ferrets lives at the age of say 9 weeks they are handled and played with every day you will get steady hand tame ferrets. the time has to be put into making them as friendly as you can by constant pleasant contact it takes time but the end result is worth the effort there is nothing worse than a biting ferret to spoil a days ferreting especially when digging is involved its un called for and un necessary. i have 12 hobs and all are what i would call tame but will kill a rabbit in seconds given the chance iv even dug to rabbits and had the ferret licking blood off my fingers it takes confidece to shove your arm into a hole knowing you have a ferret in their that could if it wanted cause you some painfull nights , put the time in now with your youngsters and handle and play regularly and reap the rewards later , Quote Link to post

kristian 9
Was talking to a woman the other day (she was passing when i was cleaning ferrets) and she was saying that she'd had ferrets as pets in the house and they used to climb all over her and one day one of them grabbed her by the face and wouldn't let go lol now she has a big scar (hole) in her cheek. She was saying she couldn't get it off lol, I can just picture it she is a sandwich short of a picnic (don't know if that makes a difference Quote Link to post
ferret1 6
I trust all my Ferrets, My 8 year old nephew plays with them when he visits and ive never had any problem. Even with kits my jills are fine with me touching them from a couple of days old. Ive had all my ferrets from about 7 weeks old and handle them alot everyday. Quote Link to post

Coneytrappr 30
Trust all of mine with me completely, never ever worried about getting a nip, can't say the same about trusting them with other people, most are fine but I have one jill who will give others a good bite. Funny thing is she's good with kids, but not so around adults. And if they try to touch her without introducing themselves[ letting her sniff hand] look out! Quote Link to post
