Malt 379
Wow they red shirt suits him better than the last one his wore , said in a earlier post if the lad manages not to get Injured he could score a hatfull!! expecially when you look at the service he'll get compared to the other teams he's played for .... Its still a worry when you consider some games last year was Won by Ronaldo single handed! In alot of games he looked like the only player scoring in the Utd team so hopefully Owen can plug the gap! I can't help thinking another flair player from midfield needs bringing in .... Jasper Aye, but think of all those chances Ronaldo missed when he could have set up a team mate in a better position. Think of the selflessness of Rooney if he'd been same position. Talented as he is, Ronaldo was never a team player. People are always so quick to write United off. To read some of the papers lately, you wouldn't have thought that we'd won 3 pieces of silverware last season. I remember when Arsenal went the season unbeaten, and then when Chelsea emerged, the papers were all on about how United were in decline, Fergie was passed it, the balance of power was shifting to the London clubs, Beckham left, Van Nistlerooy left, etc. What happened then? We only won the next 3 Premier league titles, amongst other things. I do agree that we need a new world class midfielder BTW.
chartpolski 24,819
It seems he WANT'S to play for Man U, so maybe he will be a good signing. He didn't WANT to play for Newcastle, he only went there because they offered him so much money, it's what mercenaries do and he is a mercenary footballer. He was injured more than he played at Newcastle, and when he did play, he walked around with a face like a smacked arse. I firmly believe if he had REALY been commited to the cause at Newcastle, they would still be a premier team; so good riddance to him . Cheers.
the_stig 6,614
i thinks its a good signing giggs type roll play him/rest him he`ll get a good few games under his belt match fitness with the ressies - help to bring the youngsters on .. fergie knows what he`s on with unless he`s just after cheap stableling - for his retired race horses .. time will tell i`d like to see owen pull on an england shirt a few more times yet ... an assett .. Of course one player doesn't make a team, but if overpaid wasters like Owen and Viduka had gave their all, maybe Newcasle would have got the ONE GOAL that made the difference between staying up or going down. Cheers. There was massive problems in every department, owner, directors, managers, coaches, players, etc; but this thread was about Owen, and I think his heart simply wasn't in it. If he had got the goal to keep them up, then left, they would only have the same problems next season. So, perversly, going down might be a blessing in disguise; Ashley sells the club, new owners invest, they get rid of the dead wood and over paid under acheivers, and who knows, maybe back up afer a season or two. Cheers. so you dont think it had anything to do with the way mike ashely runs the club then polski

border lad 1,047
Owen is a player that will be remembers for never reaching is full potential and for them stupid injuries all the time I do not agree, he picked up some bad injuries, when playing for Liverpool, at Newcastle, he seemed to be playing @ 75% of his potential, But at United he will be playing alongside, some other world class players, and Fergie, will be hailed a hero again, and England will reap the benifits, he will go to SOUTH AFRICA, as well, after all he is a Natural striker, (((( which half of the dog men here wished they had,)))) A NATURAL,
andy s410c 61
He'll score goals at Man Utd as he'll get chances to however keeping him match fit is the problem as we all know. What i enjoyed hearing was that he cost the cartoon army(NUFC) £41 MILLION POUND ALL IN & each goal worked out at £1.4 million . Think he may have a role as super sub for the start of the season & if he's doing the bizz,a shock England call up ....
