couple of rainbows

Had a couple of nice Rainbows yesterday....one off the top and one with a buzzer. Real weed problems in the lake with this hot weather......you can almost see the stuff growing. Fishing with a two pound leader isn't easy when you try to land a pound and a half fish with three pound of weed. Thinking of introducing grass carp to try and combat the weed, anyone ever done this ?

 

(the pigeon came after I packed up and was having a stroll round the lake..... healthy diet this weekend!)

i think it was the main reason for them being put in lakes originally. And despite the name they are not actually carp they are a member of the chub family

Might have to up your leader from 2lbs when there are a couple of 15lb grass carp sucking down your dry flies!!!

dont carp make the water muddy due to them stirring up the bottom?? or are grass carp different??
