hi all just joined this site after heering much talk about it.did any one see the standerd ov judging at broughton on sunday

Why ???? was it youself ???

it was a chap named derek webster .

patting the dogs on the back 3 times then watching them walk is not wat i call lurcher judging

This Thread has recieved quite a lot of views and replies all in defense of the Judge Derek Webster I think that says a lot about the man and his standard of judging,as I have said previously it is all to easy to sit behind a keyboard and critisise.

The person who initially started this thread Lakielad what is your experience of judging or Lurchers, put a photo up of yours so we can a look at the calibre of the dogs you keep,or alternatively do the decent thing and apologise to the man.

ah, come on lads, mr webster is having his integrity tested by 1 arsehole, sorry if your reading this, but why come on here and riddicule mr webster , he has been around the lurcher scene long enough to give an honest oppinion on any cross of lurcher, judging is not so straightforward as people might think, theres many points to think about,

1/ is it capable in working, 2/ is it's movement sound, 3/ does it have good feet, to name but a few, but most of all , the JUDGE has the final say, no matter what, if it was so easy to judge , every , tom dick n harry would be judging, choosing his , tom dick or harry, mates , not a very fair system is it, good judges , like mr webster are asked to judge because of their fair and honest word, and because they know what a good looking WORKING LURCHER looks like

so remember anyone----------------dont critisise-- just be an honourable man or woman and accept the judges desicion

Personally I think anyone who opts to judge a show wants their head examined, they make three people happy and a damn sight more very bitter, not an ideal situation.

I'd pick up on what someone posted earlier about judges knowing what they're looking for and being experienced regarding dogs,

I've witnessed (as others will have) people judging that have been in the dog game twenty minutes, go through dogs like underwear but are considered to be more knowledgeable than your average lurcherman simply because of the volume of dogs they've owned.

All that aside however if you choose to enter your dog and pay your pound you're basically asking one man for his opinion of your dog be it, good, bad or indifferent it's only one mans opinion so don't let it spoil your day, and if it does buy a pie with your pound instead.
