a friend invited me out to a field that was sown very late in the year with barley. We had a good couple of hours unfortunately the hit : ratio wasnt very impressive

With that many crows together, along with the ones you missed, you must have an RSPB reserve close by.

it is on the outskirts of a large country estate, there is one of the biggest rookeries there i have seen. normally you fire a shot and the crows head off for a bit but this area doesnt seem to get shot much and the crows kept comming thick and fast. My mate missed a crow and as it was heading back out of the decoys another flew over it right into the decoys.

 

i have found that since starting to shoot rifles my shotgun shooting has slipped but a bit more practise will get it sharpened up again.

So! Were they Crows or Rooks?

 

If they were Rooks, slices of white bread instead of, or along with, decoys, work wonders.

I did suspect that to be the case.

 

Very unusual to be able to shoot that many Crows in a short time.
