pointer28 1
Hi all, Just wondering whats the deepest that anyone has ever dug to a ferret? Most of the terrier guys have dug to ten foot at one stage or another and love it whereas the ferreting guys hate the thoughts of digging (mostly). Any pics of deep digs would be great too. pointer28 1
Thanks teejay, Just thought I'd start a new topic, interesting to hear peoples stories, I'm into terriers as well so I don't mind digging at all even thought some of my shooting pals think I'm mad when I get stuck in with the spade. They can't believe that anybody could get excited about digging a bloody big hole :11: . Maybe they're right !!! Quote Link to post
Rabbithunter 456
i dont know how deep the deepest one i have done, as it went off the scale on my MK1 15FT ferret finder Quote Link to post
blakfut 0
Hello all the deepest I've ever dug was about 7ft, and it wasn't easy digging, we were told the burrow was about 3ft deep so wasn't botherd about using a jill who stays with her kill, when we located her at 7ft we were well peeved but still it's something to have a laugh about after the event. pointer28 1
Rabbithunter, are you serious? That must have been one huge warren!! Blakfut, I hate it when that happens, went out a few years ago and entered a terrier into a simple shallow fox earth and, you've guessed it, ended up digging ten feet in the lashing rain and dark with a flashlight and inadequate digging tools. Absolute killer at the time, but something to laugh about afterwards. Quote Link to post
Rabbithunter 456
On another note, the deepest i have actually dug is 4 foot. not too bad, but enough to warm you up :11: Quote Link to post

Branch 0
You guys that dig 7ft are mad I would never bother for a few rabbits. Call me lazy but I never work (un less I really have too) anything that looks deep or has tree roots not worth it either lurcher or rifle territory! My deepest dig to date is 5-6 feet that was a few years back when using a liner and he got caught on a root. Quote Link to post
