The one 8,512
Im no keen on straw or hay as i reckon the hollow stems could be a haven for fleas ticks etc and just use shavens in the sleeping compartments Quote Link to post
takman511 42
straw is fine .i use it with shaving all year round. hay is no good at any time of year its for feeding and it will sweat if u use paper it will get damp no good at all. just my opinian Quote Link to post

Loads of it so they can bury into it. I dont like hay it holds too much dust. Shredded paper in summer pal and straw at winter. Ule have lovely snuggled in ferrets FM Quote Link to post
CommanderData 0
Straw is perfectly fine, i was tort to use it at college for ferrets. Where is this college for ferrets? Sounds interesting. How old do ferrets have to be before they're allowed in? Quote Link to post

Danny123 1
As some have already stated...straw is fine. I use wood shavings (not saw dust!) in both the run and bed compartment with straw added to the bed compartment...more straw during the winter and just a little through the summer. If you have any other animals that you can use straw for and if you have somewhere to store it then its a lot cheaper to buy a bale of straw! Quote Link to post
mushroom 13,268
i use a good layer of shavings every where, bed and in the run then i put straw in the bed compartment, i've also found a good extra load of shavings in the toilet area makes it a lot easier to clean the sh1t up. max abell 196
Use shredded paper in summer and straw in winter Quote Link to post
matty73 4
i put good layer of shavings in bottom of bed area then straw on top, this i do all year round. i find in summer the ferrets tend to sleep out in the run most nights either in the open or in pipes i use straw for dogs bedding aswell you can get problems with mites so i spray it with mite treatment before use it Quote Link to post
