Straw is perfectly fine, i was tort to use it at college for ferrets. Loads of it so they can bury into it. I dont like hay it holds too much dust. Shredded paper in summer pal and straw at winter. Ule have lovely snuggled in ferrets :D

Where is this college for ferrets? Sounds interesting. How old do ferrets have to be before they're allowed in?

Great example of a grown Man

As some have already stated...straw is fine.

I use wood shavings (not saw dust!) in both the run and bed compartment with straw added to the bed compartment...more straw during the winter and just a little through the summer.

If you have any other animals that you can use straw for and if you have somewhere to store it then its a lot cheaper to buy a bale of straw!

i use a good layer of shavings every where, bed and in the run then i put straw in the bed compartment, i've also found a good extra load of shavings in the toilet area makes it a lot easier to clean the sh1t up.

i put good layer of shavings in bottom of bed area then straw on top, this i do all year round. i find in summer the ferrets tend to sleep out in the run most nights either in the open or in pipes i use straw for dogs bedding aswell you can get problems with mites so i spray it with mite treatment before use it
