For about £140 you can pick up an AGS SR2 with a 3-4x40 milldot from Uttings. They dont post the offer on the internet but if you give them a ring they will sort you out. go for .177 in my opinion, the flatter trajectory makes for easier hunting / you dont have to think about drop off too much. Break barrels are absolutely fine and a very good place to start. A friend of mine regularly uses one and he's better than me with my fancy PCP, lol. The SR2 is a belter of a cheap rifle + is basicly a chinese replica of a of a HW90, but dont let that put you off as its still a class act (some rifle snobs may compain its not as good as the real thing, but IMO the only difference is that it doesnt fully replicate the reccord trigger... but its much better than anything else in its class).

What do you mean by gas powered - co2 ? - they are cr@p IMO, not consistant enough. If you mean pre charged (air) rifles - they are superb, very little recoil. If you are on a budget/starting off the S200 would be a good starting point (air arms). Legally - anything below 12ftlbs and you are fine.

Your best bet is to go to your local shooting range, or to go to a suplier with a testing range so you can find out what works for you. dont get sucked into fancy sales patter though and come out with an absurdly expensive rifle that doesnt fit your needs.

kindest regards,

well for 344 from jsr you can get a aas400 classic .22 with combo but bear in mind that you will need charging gear aswell there superb rifles i can vouch for it as ive got one

very nice - I have the same rifle. Unbelievably accurate for the money - but you will need to add 100 for a pup + buy a gunbag and pellets on to of that dont forget... it all adds up... but if your budget can stretch to just under £500 Id be inclined to agree with coney catcher.

you can buy my .22 cometa 5, had 2 collared doves today and 5 rabbits over the last week since switching to carbine, the only reason i am selling it is to save up for a more expensive one, i have it in the classifieds here for £120, it has a excellent condition gunbag, 4 x 32 BSA Mildot Scopes and is very accurate. make me an offer if you want :good:
