Matt2085 0
Thanks again for the replies and thanks for that explanation Phantom, makes much mroe sense now Since I've had nothing better to do today I've pretty much just been looking online for air rifles come across this website which seems pretty cheap http://www.airguns-online.co.uk/index.htm One that stands out to me for some unknown reason is http://www.airguns-online.co.uk/super_xs19_air_rifle.htm the first special offer seems to give me everything I seem to need for just within my budget. Having looked on reviewcentre this seems to get pretty good reviews, just wondering what you guys think of it, or if it's really just a pile of worthless crap? Thanks again, Matt Quote Link to post
slyfox-mal 1
most people will tell you to steer clear of most chinese rifles ie smk xs19 there are ok for abit of plinking but they are very rough and ready in the most and in there untuned state ie just out the box they can be as rough as a badgers ar*e you are better off going to a gunshop and trying a few rifles out to find out what suits you but bare in mind cheap rifles are cheap for a reason you are better off saveing a little more and getting a class rifle that will last you a lifetime if looked after all the best mal Quote Link to post
Phantom 631
Thanks again for the replies and thanks for that explanation Phantom, makes much mroe sense now One that stands out to me for some unknown reason is http://www.airguns-online.co.uk/super_xs19_air_rifle.htm the first special offer seems to give me everything I seem to need for just within my budget. Thanks again, Matt Hey Matt, The gun shown is a very capable gun for rabbits out to (my max so far with a one shot kill) is 30ish yards. A lot of people reckon the chinese are crap, but if you look here : http://www.thehuntinglife.com/forums/index...howtopic=107429 You will see that my rifle is the SMK19 (along with as SMK 3-9x40 scope) By the way, if you go into Duncans in Paragon Square, they will advise you to stay away from the Chinese (as they did me!), However Duncans will sell you an Edgar Brothers with similar power output as the 19. If you want to see the 19 and other chinese guns, then go around the corner to Hutchinsons on Anlaby Road. Now I know your location, I can also suggest you contact Rod at the http://www.hulldistrict-ftc.org.uk/ They have use of an indoor range on West Carr Lane (Sutton Fields) Any other help I can give, just holler I'm not far from you. Matt2085 0
Thanks again for the replies, Phantom: I will definatly be paying a visit to Duncan's tomorrow as well as Hutchinsons, didn't know that place sold Air Rifles (I was in there a few weeks ago to buy some darts, shows that I walk around with my head in the clouds) but I'll definatly be having a look. Next time I post I may be the proud owner of an Air Rifle pending seeing something I like, since I get paid tomorrow Thanks again, Matt Quote Link to post

Catcher 1 639
A springer is the best place to start air gunning, cheap to own, cheap to fix, better to learn accruacy with, and if you find you loose interest, you've not spent the best part of a grand to get set up Agree Quote Link to post
Matt2085 0
Okay! So I bought me a rifle, went to Duncan's in Hull and got an Edgar Brothers Model 60 .22, I'm quite pleased with it and will take some pics to put up here soon. Also got in contact with the Hull & District FTC and went to the indoor range tonight, seem a ncie group of guys, got my rifle zeroed in nice (eventually, I was just happy to be shooting not caring where I was hitting for about 2hours) Felt great watching those targets ping down anyways pretty pointless post, just happy to have my rifle Thanks, Matt Quote Link to post
Phantom 631
Hi Matt, Yeah they are good guy's there you will find most shooters are Hope you dropped my name, to let em know I'm still alive I have not been for quite some time I designed the website for them as well Bit basic compared to what I can do now, but it does the job. You will have met Niel and Rod then? both top blokes and Rod is an RFD so he can get you anything you want at a decent price as well Phantom Quote Link to post
Matt2085 0
haha sorry no Phantom I didn't drop your name, since I only know you as "Phantom from The Hunting Life forums", I assumed many people would think me a crack-head if I turned up saying "Hi the Phantom on the intaweb reccomended you to me!!" Aye I met Rod, not sure about Niel, but I met Steve the Club President. (I'm not good with names) Both helped me zeroing in my scope (with an explanation to what was happening), since the only time I've zero'd one in - in the past it has been done for me by range coaches. Had a blast at the end of the session with some pretty nice shots, was great watching targets ping down! Can't wait to get outside shooting now!! Thanks, Matt Quote Link to post
Phantom 631
haha sorry no Phantom I didn't drop your name, since I only know you as "Phantom from The Hunting Life forums". Rod, would probably have clicked Neil is; well the first time I met Neil, some cheeky sod asked if I was his brother He would also have clicked who you mean especially if you mention the 'Sniper' on the end of Phantom. Glad you had a good time, before you go out shooting Live Quarry, get someone to take you up to the outdoor range, the Zero & Plinking range is twice the length of the indoor range and has the propper Teacher there! What I mean by that is the targets are all at different ranges, on the course the targets are also different hieght's and of course you have the all important wind blowing (Roos is very near the North Sea) which you must learn to shoot in and compensate for a good crosswind. There is also the H&DFTC Master AKA Paul who can take on any shot with a springer (and has done so many times in HFT!) He's a bit of a God type creature when it comes to Marksmanship, rifle and pistol! But hes a great person to know and willingly gives sound advice. Hope to meet you one day at the club ranges (I dont have transport and I get scowled at by most of the bus drivers when I have my guns). Failing that, when I get some more permission round here, you could come and give me a hand bashing the bunnies Tony AKA Phantom Quote Link to post

Aye hope to meet you too, I have the same problem with transport.. but I'm used to the funny looks and even sometimes verbal attacks whilst wearing my military uniform on the way to work. Would love to "give you a hand".. or more like make rabbits run away and hide from us, I have no idea where to start with hunting really and would really appreciate that I'm going to be sending out letters on monday, got 50 printed out and enveloped/stamped up ready to post but don't like leaving things in a post-box over weekend so hope I'll get a reply from one of those, though I seem to think my age will be a hinderance Thanks, Matt Quote Link to post
