THE GRIFF 8
I am wanting to apply for a Firearms Licence, but i was wanting to know - how many acre of land is classed as suitable for a 10/22 ruger rifle. My parrents own about 25 acre of land and are over run with rabbits, the gun would be to keep them under control. If 25 acre would not be enough land to issue me a Licence then i will have to get permission off the farmer next door, but if 25 acre is enough then i would rather not have to ask him. I was wondering if anyone new if there was a minimum amount of land to issue a licence, I do realise there are other factors to consider, like public footpaths and suchlike and understand every case for application is different, but in your oppinion do you think 25 acre is not enough land. Thanks ps;I have never owned ANY gun licence before. Quote Link to post
Spangle 0
I helped a lad with his application for a .22lr, 17hmr and a .243 and he got the .17hmr and the .243 with only 21 acres. Put in for it and see what happens. Good luck. S Quote Link to post
salukiwhippet 6
Depends on the land mate, a 25 acre valley in the middle of nowhere might well be safer than 100acres of flat stony land surrounded by houses! Get the FLO to come and have a look. He may be happier to give you one of the .17 rimfires as they ricochet less. James Quote Link to post

If you show the same level of common sense and awareness about shooting when your FEO visits that you show in your post you are in with a damn good chance. We need people like you. Fingers crossed for you bruv. RicW Quote Link to post

Given your age, your sense and your level headed approach you should get your FAC. Think about a CZ bolt action as an alternative to the Ruger. Slower but more accurate. RicW Quote Link to post
