lurchergrrl 1,441
Well it's mostly what works out for them. I wouldn't have them if I couldn't give them what they need, and I go out of my way to do it. Quote Link to post

Guest lurchers&terriers
bang them on a tread mill What good is that? All that gives you is a fit dog. I think a dog that can run twist and turn jump fences swim rivers mooch through long grass is going to be a fitter happier more confident dog and a better worker for it. Whats the point in just putting your dog on a treadmill then back in its kennel? What quality of life do that dog have? Fair enough if you use the treadmill along with normal exercise but using a treadmill as your dogs only exercise is just laziness. You and your dog would be better of getting out there. mantha 2
there is a lot of so called dog men that don't even exercise there dogs in the summer. Just leave them in the runs or in the garden, I even know of a man that don't exercise his dogs at all in the WINTER because there are no shows, so they get fat and brain dead when they should be working. The people he talks to thinks his dogs are worked because they have scares from kennel fights and he tells them they work. There's no excuses not to exercise your dogs every single day of the year. If you cant do it get a mate to do it. There's a lot of people in the dog world who i believe are not fit enough to have dogs.If you cant feed them everyday, walk them every day or give them somewhere warm dry and comfortable to sleep you should really be thinking weather your fit to have a dog and if you don't give a f**k about dogs and just happy to keep them alive to work for you you shouldn't have dogs. couldnt agree with you more mate good on you for speaking your mind i know alot of boys in the frame of mind that a dog is just a tool for hunting and then get left in the shed all summer and then moan when the dog cant do what they ask of them its sad realy shoundnt be allowed to have dogs in my opinion atb mantha Quote Link to post
johnbhoy 1
well said mate. dogs are just like humans. they need to get out and get exercise and a bit time out the house or kennel. ma friend called me hughey the other day there. hughey is a man from my bit who races greyhound and you see him nearly every 6 hours out walking his greyhound. everytime you see him hes walkin the dogs. he thought he was trying to slag me but a took it as a compliment atb johnbhoy Quote Link to post

GarryN 5
"hughey" I must be a one as I walk the dogs three or four times everyday, even when I go for a pint all anybody says to me is where's your dogs. Exercise and time is what all dogs need, Oh yes they are my life. When I was a Kid my folks had been having a Ding Dong and the Old Fella got up to take the dog out when my Mother took a wobbley and said that he thought more of the dog then her " he replied I think more of the Cat and I don't like Cats, he soon left like a bullet. As said before look after your dog and he will look after you?. Quote Link to post

Guest lurchers&terriers
Listen some of you fannys, its gonna be 34 here on Thursday and most likely not much cooler in the night/early morning...........if you think I am gonna walk any dog in that you are fecking stupid!! Sometimes the right thing to do is just let the mutt lay in the cool......... That's not what were talking about WILF. Where talking about numpties who don't exercise there dogs at all in the summer regardless of the weather. There are going to be days where the weather is to warm and there's nothing wrong with that. All we are saying is what we believe is vital for the well being of a working dog. If you look after your dog and treat it with respect i believe it will be a better worker for it, That's my opinion and if were all Fanny's for looking after our dogs and respecting our dogs fair enough that's your opinion. We are speaking up about the c**ts who don't exercise there dogs at all in the summer or let them sleep in shitty conditions etc and c**ts who don't look after there dogs at all and expect them to work there guts out for them come winter. As you know WILF there are some bad cruel b*****ds his game and they give us all a bad name. I for one believe they should be told there wrong in the way they treat there dogs. Sorry if im a fanny a c**t a muppet a wanker a what ever, its how i feel and so do many others. Quote Link to post
whip x grey 276
i agree there bads uns ,,,and there always will be main problems is just leaving them in kennel to rot away,,,or even in house other problems is when they get injured or the basic,s worm or flea trement,,,, somtimes owners are too tight to get them treatment and the worse one we see all to often in papers or on the net,,,not bothering to feed them , ie worse case starving them to the brink of death,,there,s no excuse for that,,feed and water its basic Quote Link to post
major1 6
i think a dog or shud i say dogs shud get out every morning and if you have got a treadmill put them on it i say Quote Link to post
shooter19 0
ya your right there bud but your going a bit over the top by saying you shouldnt have a dog if you cant walk him 365 days a year. 2-3 times a week durin the summer is plenty. and the dogs arent going to be unhappy if there not out every day. so dont be callin them fellas bad dog men just because they havent all the time in the world like you obviously have. Richie10 345
I thought you all walked your dogs.... I am out of the house nearly 13 hours of the day, but I come back and still walk the dogs. I thought that was the pleasure of keeping dogs and it keeps them fit, no? Why wouldn't you take them out now? When I get back from work I take them in the evening when it is a lot cooler and they can still jump in the river if they are too hot. Quote Link to post
Hannah4181 260
I'm my own boss, and lucky in the sense that i can arrange my dog commitments and work commitments as i please. Mine get walked daily, if its too hot then we wander down to the river and they swim . . . . . . . .if i have a stupidly busy day then 1 gets to be my assistant which they all love, riding about in the car with me all day and getting to meet lots of dogs and people. . . . . . the 2 i've left at home get a short trot out and then fed "heavy" and will happily snooze the day away after eating their bones. The next day they get double the exercise. This works for me and i'm lucky to be able to choose my working hours. I do thing though that is not limited to working dogs alone, i get loads of phone calls each month and emails from all sorts, although the majority are pet homes . . . . .. "my dogs wrecking the house" . . . "my dog barks when i leave him" . . . . "My dog is aggressive with me" . . . .. . . . . . . It ALWAYS amounts to exactly the same problems, an under stimulated, over fed/cheap, nasty additive high food, under trained, over zealous dog that is bored shitless, bouncing off the walls . . . . . . You don't often meet a badly behaved tired dog do you? Quote Link to post
