Col_c 0
hi guys, first of all.. ive not yet got an air rifle but im looking into it (to be honest im looking into all aspects of hunting) but before i spend the money on one i would like to know a few things if you wouldnt mind 1) im 21(on this coming thursday that is..=D), ive never shot before, other than messing around in the garden with my dads mates airrifle shooting random tins etc.... what would i need to do to be able to get permission .. 2) due to the fact that my aim wont be good for a while, would it hinder me getting any permission.. or should i find out anyone in my area if they can take me along so i can get practice (im joining the TA, infantry.. so rifle practice is going to come quicker than a non TA type person i guess...) 3) what other gear (clothes, tools, err.. any items) would i need to start out (not rifle, i been told off a friend what to get for a first gun so just other things) oh, if it matters im gonna be shooting for rabbits/pidgeons/any other thing that annoys people sorry if non of that makes sence im exhausted today thankyou very much in advance Quote Link to post
RustyG 0
permission is the hardest part mate, n age is against you, all i can say is dont give up, keep trying all your local farms/golf clubs/cricket clubs etc, there are plenty of permission letters on here, when it comes to kit, a decent knife, some camo, either real tree or DPM which is a lot cheaper! a water bottle and a bag to put it all in, there is no point spendin a fortune on kit, only to get bored of hunting 6 months down the line! oh yeah, finaly practice practice practice, shootin at targets is boring, but you need to practice alot to get the confidence that your pellet is going to hit exactly where you aim it! Good luck Rusty G Edited June 29, 2009 by RustyG Quote Link to post

Go ahead and buy yourself a rifle, and practice everyday shooting at targets, at varying ranges, until you're confiedent you can hit a target the size of a 20 pence piece, every time. Only once you can do that does the rest of your post become relevant. Cheers. Ron. Quote Link to post
