Hi,

Saw the nurse about getting some worming tablets, she was saying that if she hasn't had a booster she will have to have the puppy injections from the start again.

I have never heard of this, sounds like a money grabbing exercise. Anyone else had this?

Cheers

Rich

if you had give the dog its booster from the start you wouldnt of had a problem would you mate. ;)

Whats with the wise crack! He asked a genuine question, and wanted a reasonable answer!! Yet again someone ruining a post right from the start!

And what do you mean, i have never given my dogs any jabs, and that includes dogs that i have had till they lived till they were 18.. Many of my friends have never jabbed there dogs....

For gods sake, give the lad some slack, if you dont know the answer, dont say anything... After all your not his dad! Because thats what you sound like.

I never boost my dogs: just have the puppy ones at 8 and 12 weeks old. Even my vet said it wasn't really necessary. If you have doubts about your dog's immunity get it blood tested, and only boost (not the whole pupy course again) if it needs it.

just think about it lads a vets is a buisines,if we don`t go to them they get no money! my daughter wanted to be a vet we put her through collage, she had a placement in a well known practice and two years into it she decieded she couldn`t do it.she`s been brought up with dogs and ferrets all her life and could clean a rabbit or pheasant as quick as you or me,but as she said people pay money to keep a pet alive and when they have milked you and you can see your pet is only surviving and not living they take more of your money to put your pet to rest!

Wow, 16 years old and knows it all! :clapper:

I love the way some of these kids speak in the company of adults. They're lucky, when I was that age there was no internet, and if I'd have spoken like that I'd have had a black eye. Funny how the internet gives you such a huge set of stones.

Back to the original topic...

I've never in my 31 years known a dog to die of something it's been inoculated against as a pup.

same thing happened to me ,,dog was 2+year old,,came down with a very high tempture,,1 degree higher and vet said he was brown bread sort off speak,,,,,cut long story short dog survied ,,,

1st thing vet said to me has he had a 1st booster,,,when he was at deaths door,,,i said no,,,,he told me 1st booster the most important,,miss that one he,ll have to be jagged again,,,so i did as i have him insured and insurance wont pay out if dog,s not boosted up,,,,,got another injury 2 months ago--just got big vet bill last month / got cheque for it last week,,,If dog wasnt jagged up to date,,i would lay money on it i would have been out off pocket, cos i payed bill up front vet put in £60 more to insurance so my excess was covered as well £0 out off pocket

iam led to belive but iam no vet,,,1st booster is a must,,,2nd can get when ull feel like it as if u miss it ull not have to have dog jagged again,,,i think thats the case

had gundogs when i was keepering/ never jagged any off them and they were as heathey as any other dog no probems

I always used to give all my dogs the original double set of puppy jabs and follow up with the annual boosters. However, thanks to information and links from this site and a couple of others I stopped getting the annual boosters a couple of years ago. There was a thread on here last week, I think, with a very informative youtube link on the subject.

Thanks for all the replies and the advice.

I don't mind spending the money on the dogs, but I feel sometimes we are filling up the dogs with chemicals and drugs just to line the vets pockets, it can't be doing the dog any good.

Thanks again,

Rich
