TomW42 0
how many members has yer club a lot of terrier and lurcher people wont support it me included have no problem paying at gate as i understand how much it cost to run show if the money collected in both terrier and lurcher rings went to any charity north or south of the border everybody would support it we in the south have been inform that a certain man gets the money himself and has done for years its only hearsay so if u could clear this up i would be great full urs in sport red dog Madra, Our club has about a couple of dozen members. And one man does not get all the money . After running a show such as the All Ireland there is not a lot left. This year it cost over £400 to bring the judges over and there was over £400 given in cash prizes plus class trophies & rosettes etc, Add in insurance, advertisingand other expenses and you can see running shows is not a real money making venture for anyone. I got two lunch tickets for two days work! Anyway on to Birr and Albert tells me to direct people to www.irishgameandcountryfair.com and you will see he has taken some of the comments on board and put up €50 for the top terrier and lurcher with €100 for the Best dog overall. He has told the club if the entries justify it he will up the prize money for Birr again next year. Re : Trophies - it has always been our club policy to give trophies for each class but how do you all feel about just giving rosettes for the class and some better trophies for the top dogs overall as well as cash.
