Little Butch 16
As said, the HW90 really does take some beating. I've shot springers of most shapes, makes and sizes for (oh god!!) 30 years and it's the best one overall that I've come across. Cheers. Edit to say, Lightnings are very over-rated. Not too well built, twangy as hell and the mod's crap. Have a look at Webley springers too. Much better than the BSA. I've got a Webley Stingray Carbine which Is really well built.. jasper65 6
Hi guys and girls I am looking for recommendations for a air rifle to get back into the sport, I am still going to be ferreting in the winter months but would like to get out on my farms with a air rifle to keep populations down and keep farmers happy, I took a break from air rifles when I lost my permission what seems like many years ago, i first started shooting with a BSA supersport mk2 ss Carbine with nikko stirling gold crown 6x40 scopes (I think) the moved on to a theoben rapid 7 with simmons WTC 3.5-10x50 scopes, laser and logun gun lamp, i traded in guns for a nice beretta shotgun to shoot clay pigeons but sold that to buy carp fishing gear, Ideally I want a springer or a gas ram, I have been looking round a few sites and quite like the look of the air arms tx200HC BSA lightning xlot the theoben evolution, I'd prefer to keep away from PCP's for now any ideas and suggestions??? I will more than likely be buying from the airgun centre (unless you can show me somewhere cheaper and better) all suggestions will be taken onboard it's just I used to be well into my airguns but didn't stay up to date with magazines and reviews etc etc.. the Airarms pro sport is a winner John! Fixed barrel and extremly accurate. they did a break barrel version called the pro elite which was very tuneable but I'm not sure they still do them anymore.... Get a .177 atb Tony Quote Link to post
stealthy1 3,964
Do your self a favour John and get a HW77, Yeah thier long, yeah thier heavy, but it will do every thing you want from a springer, and still be doing it for some one else long after your gone, or the 97K if you want a carbine, still got the HW7I bought in 1987, and its still going strong. RustyG 0
hw90 or 95, get the k if you want a carbine, they are incredibly well built, my mate has had his hw90 for a good 10-12 years, never seen the inside of a gunsmiths in its life and it still shoots like a dream! if you are shooting inside barns have you considered a rat catcher (i know you dont want a pcp, but its easier to change a co2 cylender than it is to use a styrup pump!) they are cheep and efective at close range Rusty G Quote Link to post
