dawnraider09 75
i was born and raised on a farm in kent and can remeber watching the hares in the field opposite my old mans and listen to him talk about the days when the place was alive with them, and him always seeing badgers on his night time excursions when he was younger.and the tales of days bird nesting and the huge bags of rabbits after a days ferreting,as i grew up and started to follow in his footstepsthe amount of wildlife was noticeably poor.over the last ten years or so the owner of the farm my dad and i work has gone into organic growing and setting aside large areas of land for wild grasses and flowers also planting new areas of woodland and building otter sets along our stretch of river.we now have two badger sets witch are multiplying nicely and last weekend two hares appeared in the field i used to watch them as a boy, deer have been seen in the woods and fields sorrounding the farm and a n increase in the song bird population has been a welcome sight and sound. also an increase in the snake ,frog and newt department shows that the land is becoming more and more echo friendly but the icing on the cake came this morning when my dad called to say he had just been watching an otter fishing in our stretch of river.i missed out on alot of this as a boy but am lookking forward to sharing in this new abbundance of life with my two boys.so i am heading out later ,camera in hand and boys in tow to see what we can see
