Vehicle scrappage scheme.

Recommended Posts

Just wondering what you think of it.

As I understand it, you take your old banger in and get a 2k discount off a new car!!

Brilliant! ......... except.....

Who can actually afford to fork out for a new car? ...... Not me, thats for sure!

Who funds the scrappage scheme so the better off can have a new car?? ......Errr, that's my income tax!

What happens to the old car (pre 1999) .... It gets crushed!!! Remember, they could and will be lovely clean examples with tens of thousands of miles left to go! Who'd appreciate having one? ........ That'll be me then!!

Which leads me back to the beginning....Who can actually afford to fork out for a new car?

This scheme is an absolute sham in favour of the better off, not only because we are paying for it, but because the price of bangers may go up too, which will cost me!!

Rant over!

You are all right!

Who would buy a new car?

Minute it's off the forecourt you have lost £££, never mind the 'new scheme', we all knew, new is a con long before that.

So same old, same old - had to buy a reasonably 'new to me car' start of last year, got offered variable amounts on the old one without any salesman actually moving from his air conditioned showroom - was thankful for the a/c - reeking of aftershave each and everyone (probs. to cover the smell of bullsh!t).

So whats to gain?

My son has couple of auld cars, older than him! VW's not a sign of rust, he's into all the gubbings of such things, must confess had to drive them couple of times and struggled (no power steering, or assisted braking, clutch nearly having my knee out en route to meeting my eye - bloody hard work!). Cannot help but think of the planned obsolescence we appear to be obliged to participate in.

its a total false economy, in a time when finance and banks have got the whole country in the shit, they are promoting having more finance for cars no boday wants or needs.

£2500 off a new car is great what about the rest? finance or HP? mental.

Its the same with reduced payments for tracker mortgages, yea at this time great you could be paying allot less each month but this also promotes taking on further loans for home improvements and ohhhh a new car.... come 12-21 months later when the interest rates have returned to come kind of norm, people will be handing their cars back as they can no longer afford them......

Also how many small independant wholesalers and businesses are going out business?..... and scrapping old cars dramatically reduces the requirements for spare and replacement part, servic kits etc.......

The fookin government has no idea, they hav fooked it up when everything was rosy and all well and good... what makes any one think they are going to get it right when the shite has hit the fan??

MENTAL

Had my rant hahaha

problem is that it is NOT funded by the garage........its funded by the government....which ultimately costs all of us......i would be happy driving an older car/van( i do)........if its running and reliable, whats the problem????

i wouold rather see the money go into the NHS or education etc.

if you can afford to buy a new car for £20,000...........the £2000 scrappage scheme will not make any difference and if it does you shouldn't be buying a new car....imo.

the car you trade in is not worth £2000......so that drives down the price of scrap......it helps one industry and fucks another one......thats all the current government seem to be able to do......and thats run round in circles trying to bite their arses !!!!!!!

another "GREEN " scheme to satisfy the unelected bueraucrats in brussels !!!!!!

but, hey thats just my opinion

cheers
