unlucky pup

Had a similar thing happen to one of my dogs the day before I went to a big falconry meet in the US. Took him out he ran great caught two hares and went home. He walks into the kitchen and comes out 5 mins later with a 6' splinter impaled through his foot. Cleaned it out and he seemed fine so I took him to the meet. First day hunting he and the falcon are chasing a hare and he jacks, comes back to me with puss and blood coming out of the top and bottom of his foot. It abcessed and burst took a week to get him right. Screwed up my hunting for almost the whole meet, the falcon didnt want chase hares without his buddy the dog all he caught was a owl until the last day when the dog recovered and they caught a hare.

To this day I dont know where the splinter came from and how he did it. I hope your dog recovers soon.
