What’s the best lamp for the job.

Recommended Posts

Hi all

I’m after some opinions on what’s the best gun lamp, at the moment I use a hand held Optronics 400 000 night blaster this means one person lamps and the other shoots.

In the past I’ve had a tracer atom that soon went in the bin the stupid switch and wire all over the place made it more trouble than it was worth.

So what’s worth buying and why?

Regards in anticipation Pete

a proper scope mounted gun lamp

i use a NIGHTSEARCHER.....................they a desgined for rim fires and shine out to about 250m

maybe a bit over the top for an air rifle but........what does a lot does a little.

any QUALITY gun lamp wont let you down......i would advise getting one with a dimmer aswell

cheers

If its out to 35 yards,

Get one of the Tesco Cree torches.

£8 plus the mount! Brilliant light throw, small, 500% brighter than normal LED torches, completely water proof, All metal construction, easy to mod for a remote switch (costing pennies). As good or better maybe than the Deben ones!

I used the instructions on here for the mod, Then created a good red filter for a few pence more (well free as I had the stuff in a drawer)

I got one of the Tesco torches (£10 now) made a scope mount and went out Friday night to give it a try, all I will say is I must have been spoilt by my night blaster.

hmmmm wires going everywhere, must have been awful for you lol....buy some velcro strips and tidy the wire/switch (shucks a blob of blue tack doesnt leave glue smeg on a stock, neather do rubber bands),

failing that any of the CREE LED torch's do a fair job, the fenix TK10Tacticle does indeed light up to 200 meters or more.. the H7R head light does do 100-120 yards on maximum, with a dimmer switch, with a light focuser... it's really small to.(as in feckin tiney lolol.).
