ferret1 6
It is an hormonal change in him at this time of year. Mine get like that for a while even after they have lined a jill. He will get better, try washing your hands before you pick him this will remove any scent from the other hob from your hands as he may be smelling the other hob on your hands and seeing it as a threat to his territory. What ever you do dont flick or tap his nose as this will damage the nose. As im sure you are aware ferrets dont have great vision and their sense of smell is very important for them. Best of luck with him. Quote Link to post
gilly-93 31
If it is to do with breading ETC Would he be calmer if i had him castrated? Quote Link to post
Kay 3,709
Castration would put pay to any hormone related issues , is he only like it if you dads holding him , or is he like it if you pick him up from his cage Quote Link to post

Catcher 1 639
Think you both have to sit down and have a beer and a cigar together, a bit of a heart to heart, if that fails, bite him back Good one mate Quote Link to post
welshdragen 9
might be an old way of doing things but take a bar of soap in to the kit with you and let him bit down on that then wash your hands with that soap and see if he still going to bite you Quote Link to post
Guest Naughty
They both hobs Lass and thats what i was thinking but he nearly had my finger off when i was putting him in the hutch Ah right If he dose go to nip you id give him a gentle flick on the nose. thats bullshit and will likely make him fear you an worse, just try to handle him with confidance and dont be nervous or jumpy with him, Quote Link to post
will 16
id just handle him as much as you can and if he does bite you just try and relax and stroke him from head to tail i had a few ferrets when i was younger and flicking thayer nose never worked for me thay just bite that bit harder Quote Link to post
wiskers 0
put a good thick pair off gloves on and handle him with them untill he gets used to you and stops biteing. handle at every opertunity.and he should settle downand and get use to being handled by you also might give you abit more confidense with him hope that will work for you if not . just let yer dad have him Quote Link to post
