Cheers for the replies.This is the 2nd year i've watched this nest but thought they were buzzards until i seen the Goshawks on springwatch. There's another nest about 30 yards away from this one identical to this which is empty are they likely to have 2 nest that they alternate year after year? or could there be a buzzard nesting this close? There's loads of buzzards in the area.

Cracking Pictures kristian! :clapper::clapper:

they're like Spars and will come back to the same wood each year and set up a nest site fairly close to the old one, If the wind doesn't blow the old one's out you can sometimes see a few in the same area, they'll even use old nest sites for plucking on and perhaps dismantle twigs from old nests for a fresh build....

a few captive bred birds from 2006!! the other lads are 100% right they defo Goshawks :yes:..

:clapper: had a message off a bbc representative this morning apparently this is the nest that was being filmed on springwatch. It is top secret have tried to find old footage off springwatch but can't find nothing? The funny thing is when springwatch was on i said to my g/f that the goshawks nest on there was identical to the one i knew for (which i thought was a buzzard) :clapper: small world if it's right!

how did they know you knew it mate? did they see it on here or what?

No my missus has not long ago joined a bird forum as she has recently fallen in love with birds of prey and when she posted the pic a member of bbc contacted her. Hoping to have an update on how they got on on autumn watch when it starts. :D have always wanted a bop myself and have got a few books on falconry but never been able to get into it. I feel it is a very hard sport to get into and really need to spend time with an experienced falconer. Maybe one day i'll get there and have my very own bop :wub: until then i'm just gonna have to dream lol p.s. sorry for going off subject :D
