JoeD 24
The kennels at college get disinfected with either trigene or Safe4 Pets both are good multi purpose disinfectants. Edit to say don't put dogs back untill floor is dry if using trigene as it can be quite harmfull Safe4 is ok though but is quite expensive. Trigene is one of the most safe disinfectants there is. Its safe in all aspects of animal (and human) husbandry, we have used it exclusively in our boarding kennels for almost 16yrs now. Not sure where you got the info about if not being safe, would like to see it though if you can point me to it as the Medichem folk were recently round our place and never mentioned it. Safe4pets is a fraction of the price from what I gather? We get all the information drilled into our heads about trigene being safe but only when dried out and safe4 to be expensive. If it is wrong then thanks for correcting me. I will start up a conversation about it at college not that it will change there minds at all. JoeD

Bootsha 1,306
battles black cant beat it I have to agree with the above, also I find the Battle's helps to keep them flea free in this warm weather, have sponged it on sometimes ( following the correct dilution rate of course) if and when I spot a bit of itching, so that must be safe for them, wet or otherwise. Approx one lite of Battles to 250 litres of water (or a 40 gallon nylon drum in old money) I know it might not be the "correct" thing to do but A) It doesn't say not to, It works,,you really ought to see the fleas dying in front of your eyes, and C) He who dares wins Rodney. Try it on a small patch first though in case some may be sensitive to it. Done it to all my dogs for a while now, even dip the terrierrs in it as a precaution in this warm weather, absolutely no harm done at all. Regards WAB

dogs-n-natives 1,182
virkon s kills everything.....even foot and mouth !!!!!! cheers sean Not really mate, its a specialised VIRUSCIDAL disinfectant, and if used too strongly will chap a dogs pads very badly. In my opinion your better off with a multi purpose, general dissinfectant like Battles or Jayes, or any other as long as its approved for use with kennels. regards DnN
