i dont know about getting in trouble but you are more than likely to knock your scopes off zero when riding

Walking to my permission the other night, full dpm kit and rifle slung on my back in dpm case.

Walking past the local 'station' (well actually its where the 'Scientific Investigation Unit' is housed) but there is always a copper or two on duty if thats what they call sitting on their butts suppin tea

Anyway's Im walking down the street in this getup and a couple of bobbies (In car, returning to the station) pass me and the car break lights go on!

Oh here we go I thought

Just then the car moves off again and turns left into a side street.

Now if they were going back to the station, they would have gone another 50 or so yards and turned right.

So I understandably was getting a little nervous especially as my permission is 'Verbal' until I catch him again with the horses and get it in writing!

Anyway I digress

As I pass the entry to the sidestreet, the car has stopped and both uniforms are looking back at me

So I gave them a friendly wave and carried on my merry way.

I am known to a fair few of the local bobbies (no not for anything naughty) Just the wife has lived round here all her life and knows everyone!

I did turn round again a further 50 or so yards to see the car had left the side street and was turning right to go back to the station.

Thank goodness for that!

you are not breaking any laws as long as the rifle is not loaded and the mag is not loaded

i do it all the time as its my only mode of transport you do tend to get some funny looks at times and expect to be pulled now and then but if your legal and youre rifle is legal and you are going to youre permission you sould be ok

i have a padlock on my slip and a trigger lock on my rifle and i carry my insurance with me and touch wood no problems so far atb mal

perfectly legal. do not as said already dont leave your magazine in or pellet in the breach etc. you could padlock your gun slip. Ride safe. the other thing is (you probably already know) keep the barrel end down so the gun cant slip out backwards.
