How my life has changed

Hey guys, thoughts I would share this with you all,

just over 12 months I posted a thread in the wanted section that me and girlfriend had just moved into our first house and that we would like to rehome a lurcher for companionship and to get me fit walking after I had dislocated both knees.

We had a number of generous offers of dogs looking to be rehomed but from the beginning one particular bitch stood out from the rest, member SkinnyRat told us all about Derry and she sounded perfect.

This was the 1st photo we saw of her

after a couple of emails we definately decided upon having Derry and arranged to meet Dom to pick her up.

From the moment we saw her sat in the front seat of Doms car we fell in love with her, Dom explained every little thing about her, Dom I stil thank you to this day.

So then it began, our life was never going to be the same, after an initial 2 months of settling Derry in and letting her fully recover from a broken toe I was visiting this site more and more and chatting with SkinnyRat my interest in hunting, lurchers and the fieldsports way of like increased.

I posted on the site that I would like to go out lamping and find out what it is all about, I had a number of kind offers ( earth and hounds, Sam Ward )

Sam took me under his wing and has now shown me all he knows about lamping and general hunting, terriers, ferrets, shooting.

Then all hell broke loose at our house and we have fallen into this way of life totally, we are now the proud owners of the following...

7 tropical fish

2 budgies

2 ferrets and 7 kits in tow!

4 chickens

Patterdale terrier ( Digby )

and of course our beloved Derry.

Now we are pretty much self sufficient with 4 eggs a day from the chucks, meat from shooting and Derry's catch and a large vegetable patch in the garden.

During the season I wil be lamping 3-4 nights a week, shooting 1 day and night a week.

I would like to say thanks to everyone on the site for all there comments and advice throughout my 1st year in fieldsports.

Cracking story mate, although I've been into shooting for years I also got my first running dog about 12 months ago, and I'm also hooked like you!!! it's a great sport!

Good on Sam Ward for taking a newbie under his wing as well :good:

I hope you have many happy years with Derry.

Cheers

Luke.
