Pembshunter 23
Hi folks, I was about to buy a 500gram roll of snare wire and wondered roughly how many snares I could expect from it, Because along with postage and eyelets its coming in at £29.95....And thats a whole lot of snares if I was to buy them Quote Link to post
whippeter69 88
I ordered a 500g of brass for a internet hunting shop and i made about 11 snares from it, mainly because it tangled up and it was apsaluelty nakerd. It tangles and every thing, so if i were you, try and find one that it on a reel or some sort. Quote Link to post

ellir0305 9
Is it easy to make snares with this wire? I normally buy them hehe. yeah once you know how it a piece of piddle and when it comes to the wire tangling: before you unwrap the turns holding the bundle together but it over somekind of dispenser to act as a spool (i used a kitchen roll holder) then unwind it and it should come off smoothly with minimal if any tangles. i was told 100 6 stranders but i make 4 stranders most the time so 150 ish i would guess but i dont know exactly probably more Quote Link to post
woodga 170
work on the assumption of 90 six strand wires to your 500 grm roll use a 4inch plant pot put your wire over the bottom and this will stop it tangling Quote Link to post

Outofnowhere 93
Nope......... still don't know what you mean Quote Link to post
Holdaway 2
Outofnowhere. The wire comes as a small coil, once opened the wire tends to get tangled and springs off and beds in and all other manner of wasteful nasties. Do as Woodga says, open the coil (take the plastic off and unwind the loose end) turn a plant pot on its head and drop the wire coil around the now upturned base. When taking wire off the coil unwind it gently outward not upward and this should prevent tangles. I too have wasted more then half rolls of wire using those 500g coils. Now I get mine from Northeastfieldsports on a big drum. H Quote Link to post
