Which cross would be best for me?

Recommended Posts

Hello!

I’m after some advice. I would like too get hold of a lurcher but am un sure of what cross to get.

Preferably I would like a dog that has brains and steadiness a plenty so i'm thinking collie. But then what? I will be lamping and ferreting mostly but don’t want a big (tall) dog but don’t know if I can handle the attitude of a whippet.

As you have already gathered this will be my first lurcher so training will be new to me also.

Any suggestions?? :signthankspin:

Bedlington/whippet x greyhound. This is an ideal cross for ferreting and lampng. They usually make around 22-24'' ats. I've have found this cross to be one of the easiest lurchers to train. :)

This may sound far from topic  but, i watched a DVD lately called the rabbiting man part 1. In it, theirs a deadly lurcher, fawn in colour, does anyone know if this is a 3/4 greyhound, 1/4 collie?

Cheers,

Frank. :)

If it is a rabbit only dog you want then collie x is a good bet if your main love is ferreting a 1st x but if its the lamping you like more ten a 3/4 dross or you could go for a 3/8 5/8ths lol.

If it is just for rabbiting mate then any smallish lurcher should do you, some collies can be b*****ds to train so dont expect it all to happen over night lol.JMO
