Pops 19
what cross will consistantly be the fastest for the first 20-30yards? because of the small open areas and the short distance game comes from the heavy cover i need one that can blast out the gate like a drag car. A racing bred whippet will be fastest on short bursts, what are you hunting as this will be an important factor in what cross to use. A whippet will be quick on the draw but outgunned by a Yote. Although my coursing buddy did tell me of a whippet his dad used on Yotes with staghound backup, it tripped them and messed with them until the stags showed up! In the Uk a good all round cross for bushing would be a whippet x collie or whippet x bull or cross of the two. atb Dirtwinger Quote Link to post

marko 30
any sort of whippet i would think nothing to touch it over the first 30 yds pedigree or non pedigree there just rockets and not carrying much weight mates whippet is a laguna and lightning fast over first yards even against my small lurcher but after that and she is in her stride theres no contest a greyhound whippet may well be faster but not of the mark i reckon. whip x grey 276
unsure about 30/40 yards i think bwra whippets would be at the top end off the table at starting ability brother,s bwra 32lb whippet x grey did ---8.19 secounds last week for 150 yards,,,,her fastest time was 8.09 secounds for that distance there,s a 25lb whippet at club at momment doing 8.28 secounds last week 150 yards and lets not forget the race breed greyhound open class watched a greyhound who raced a car round a track,, on top gear,,,they had all the technolagy i presume,,,they reckon that greyhound almost reached its top speed in 6 strides out off trap Edited June 22, 2009 by whip x grey Quote Link to post
