Bradford Lad 74
I returned from a fortnights holiday on friday and got my dog from the kennels, i thought he looked like he had lost weight, then when i checked him over today he looks like he's lost more weight and i've seen that his gums and the roof of his mouth have turned black. Has anybody any idea what has caused this weight loss and mouth discolouration??

Cold Ethyl 63
Any news on the dog?
Bradford Lad 74
Yeah, had him to the vet 1st thing this morning. He said it was a melonoma(like skin cancer) but if his gums remain smooth and the pink pigmentation returns he will be ok, however should he start to get any lumps or infections in his gums over the next few months it will be all over for him!!! To say i was knocked for six is an understatement, just keeping my fingers crossed that he's ok, he's only just gone 2yrs and is a fantastic little dog, great with kids and other dogs but snaps into hunting mode when required. Thanks for asking. Ian.

Bradford Lad 74
Came home from work today and was well pleased to see that he has already started to put some of the weight back on,Took him out with my mums Patty/Russell pup and was glad to see he was well up for chasing the bunnies again!! I should have mentioned that that the vet also said that the weight loss could have occured if a bitch in season had been kennelled near him while i was away on holiday and the pining to get to her can cause a loss in appetite, weight loss which can affect his coat. Cheers Ian
