stealthy1 3,964
Just had the dogs out for a quick dash out in the fields, pup kept sniffing this one spot, next thing a cock and hen pheasant shot up from the long grass, went to see why they were sitting so tight, and found these.

Good pics, they look cute now but they will look even better 2010 shooting season
Rolfe 2
Nice pictures.........lovely when the chicks are that small. Trouble is around here that they are cutting the meadows for silage when the chicks are at their most vunerable.

MuttleMcTuttle 21
Lovely pics - pheasants have to be among the cutest babies Haven't mangled a chick yet, but I've had a few hen birds with my mower... the daft things just sit so tight and are impossible to see in the long grass The mum & chicks usually hide in the last bit of grass in the middle of the field, then I have to escort them to the rough because the crows and kestrels are loitering with intent... OldTrapCollector 377
They are not long hatched - they still have the egg tooth on their beaks. I miss them, they always reminded me of little bees buzzing about on the hatcher trays ... OTC
J Darcy 5,871
Balls of Fluff!! I remember many years ago startling a family of mum and chicks. Being young kids we caught a few, then let them go again to join their mum. When i got home my old grandad bollocking me , saying we could have reared them under the chickens for the pot!! Despite not being native to our country, they do seem to breed rather well over here......JD
stealthy1 3,964
Thought I was lucky to see them this young, think if the pup had'nt found the scent we would have just walked past and not seen them.
