gaza 509
Im a young man and want to leave home but im on a crap trainee salary so getting a mortgage isnt an option yet. Dont want to rent because its dead money and all the new apartment complexes in my area are full of drug dealers and scum my age on benfits. Plus theyd be depressing places to live in and theres no way I could keep a lurcher and ferrets lol. The plan is buying a static caravan for about 10k to live in. You can only stay in caravans on the holiday sites during the hol season and the annual rates are extortionate . So the plan is to either buy a very small plot of land or more likely pay the landowner an annual fee. Either way though Id also have to agree if I could put up a kennel which id prefer to be fenced off for the dogs security, while im out, with the ferret hutch within the fences perimiter and a little shed for bits and bobs. Were not talking a massive fenced area like gypo sites. You always see in the paper opposition about gypos building on agricultural land, but I aint a gypo lol were only talking one caravan, Im not going to be tarmacking, and its not going to be on greenbelt land. So what do you think are the chances of gaining a landowners permission for this. In addition id keep the pests down and help out around the farm. Or how much would it cost to buy a small plot of land. Also wouldnt know how Id get my water, gas, elec. Or how much these would cost. I know Im being a bit nieve and dreaming here, but Id really appreciate your thoughts. Thanks Gareth.

Sorley x 32
Personally I would think you got two hopes of getting a farmer to buy into that idea. Though if you are dead set on it, approach a farmer with the following proposal off him. ask him for 1/4 acre on a 12 year lease BUT with a break at 5 and 8 years. Then say you will live on there in a static for the twelve years. In the mean time he can apply to have the caravan permission turned into a permanent home. I f he is successful the deal would be he gives you 1/2 and acre to have for yourself or a lump sum. The problem is that if the site is a green field and out side of planning restriction then it is bloody unlikely that you will get planing approval for it. In that case you are best off looking for a farm yard that has a quiet corner, or an orchard etc. You are going need to find one friendly, trusting farmer.

Wanna be farmer 0
It's only a few grand few half an acre, but that's depending on where you are and what the land can be used for. But you also have the difficult job of getting a farmer to sell you some of his land. Alot of people have asked my uncle to buy some of his land or all of it and the answer is always a NO. It would be easier living in a shared house or something. Your best bet is to go and ask a farmer, but make sure you dress up smart and speak properly. Thanks', Alex

countrymaid 2
We are applying to put a caravan on the farm, its costing us a fortune in Planning permission. If you buy a field and put some livestock on for 7 years then you might be able to persuade the planners that its agricultural but these guys are not stupid they will look into your employment etc
