Squirrel_Basher 17,100
Spent this afternoon on our local lake trying for a few tench and bream .As soon as we got to our chosen stage, a pike swirled away from the shallows only a small one but i thought i might tackle up for one anyway .We were to use maggot feeders in preference to cage groundbait feeders tipped with brandling worms .I cast out both baits to an area and clipped up .Wasnt long before my boys tip whipped round and was into a decent fish that took him a while to get under control ,no wonder as it was a 7lb tench !. My turn next with a good bream followed by another for the boy .Then it was my turn for a tench ,another god one too that went 6.12 on the scales .That pike swirled again near the next stage so i tackled up a rod ,caught a roach in the shallows on maggot and cast the dead bat to the area .Caught a few more bream before the bung sailed away only to resurface when i picked the rod up and stay still for ages .It suddenly tore off and i struck into a lively pike that was very areobatic.Went a mere 4 pounds but a good scrap .Enjoyable afternoon out .
