Guest buster321c
You`d do better asking this in the Lurchers , running dogs and hounds section Quote Link to post
lurcher lass 9
a full whippet are good natured, loyal dogs, their good at rabbits i've known one who would also tackle fox munty and hares, going back a few year though, when fed well they have good stamina and although fast their acceleration speed ( ie start pace) is a tad slower then some lurchers and though can be well trained they are not as intelligent as some lurcher types whippet is a good base to work from in regards to rabbits, i would say whippet x beddy maybe with a tad of greyhound in there for more speed, you could go down the whippet x collie route but not too much collie as you want more chasing instinct then brain so 1/4 collie if that, some work bull x whippet on rabbits and i've heard of very good working dogs, but go for the bull x thats not too heavy so it doesn't slow the dog down end of the day, make sure the breeder of your dog is the best you can find, stick with working lines and have a good look see what you can find, be patient and you'll be rewarded with a good one best of luck mate, hope this helps lurcher lass x x Quote Link to post
jackson2kaii8 5
whippetxhound or a colliexhound i don tink pure whippets gud enough for a full ni but a whippet x wud be the best breed to get lad Quote Link to post
jamiew 11
3/4whippet 1/4 beddy for me, Quote Link to post
supersam 64
i have a full whippet and also a whppetxgreyxsaluki... both do well in the field but the lurcher defo has more brains than my whippet.. saying that the whippet makes up for it will excellent prey drive... and i have givin both 20+ runs in an hour and a half... the whippet doesnt struggle with stamina as some think.. so i think a full whippet or a whippetxgrey... ghillies 209
needs the brain to learn...and the legs to do it, if you get just one or the other its a longgggggggggggggggggg chaise lmao. whippets are a short burst, the preverbial greyhounds for distance but it seems a lurcher some where between sorta lasts the day at a cheaper price.. give it a brain and adapt to its 'latent' talent and hey presto... apart from that it's been way too long for to coment lol...(snigers...notta lot of people know that... ) Quote Link to post

jordi9009 0
iv just got a new pup which i think will be a good rabbit dog, wheaton greyhound x collie whippet greyhound. whippets are decent on rabbit there fast nippy little dogs. Quote Link to post
blackpack 70
it all depends on the size of the fields you have small fields etc then you wont beat the whippet. Large fields then it doesnt matter if the x is quick enough then it will catch rabbits. Quote Link to post
