john b 38
It's already on an earlier post, so I won't repeat it. http://www.thehuntinglife.com/forums/index...?showtopic=9243 Work your way down it and I've posted more pics and a description I've just upgraded the design so that it's a bit more accessible - lids slides off to see what you've caught. Want to buy one ? :11: Quote Link to post
Guest Ditch_Shitter
Whats the best method for trapping stoats? Any tunnel they can see light at the other end of. Trap of choice to intercept them as they rush through. JohnB's 'Boisgellan / Clausius' works well on stoats. Use a dead mouse, under the see - saw, for weasles. Fresh blood will have a stoat rushing headlong into hell Traditionally favoured site to set is at a gap in a hedge, ditch or where ever the stoat's travelling. Gives them a 'safe place' to head for when they make that break from one side to the other. Want him dead? Mk 4 will do it. Nothing much to a stoat. See? Now you can flog all those un needed Mk 6's to me! I need them for these damn mink! Quote Link to post
Guest Ditch_Shitter
Hey! I've just read your original post, JohnB ~ including the comments by 'FoxDropper'! Great! So These work well for mink, eh? Fantastic!!! Right; I'm into town within the next few days. I'll pick up some timber and get to work! Let you all know how I get on Wood I can always afford and time's free. Mk 6's are prohibitive and need tunnels anyway! I think this could be the answer to a Lot of my problems here. They're heavy to hump around, yes. But I'll just take one at a time out. Once set, they're there for good and - in the Very unlikely event that anyone should come onto this land and find one? Well ..... wood is cheap! Thanks! Quote Link to post

Thanks! ive used the see saw traps and have had a good catch rate on rats ,one small thing ive found to work well is the addition of an elastic band and a small stick. As soon as the seesaw is tilted the elastic helps it on its way and makes for a faster and more smoother trap Quote Link to post
john b 38
I get the elastic band strixaluco - snaps the seesaw down. I tend to weight mind a bit so that it's just about to tip. What does the bit of stick do ? Quote Link to post
strixaluco 0
the stick travels up and down the piece of wire so when it is set it has hardly any leverage on the wire but as it tips up it the leverage gets greater Quote Link to post
