Rabbithunter 456
what's this new FAD all about? people wanting pure polecats or 1/2 wild polecat 1/2 ferret? Anybody who breeds a wild polecat against a ferret seriously has an animal welfare problem. I have seen some jills after being with a hob ferret, scragged around by the neck, I would hate to imagine what a wild polecat would do with her. What if you had a lay-up with one of these polecats and had to dig, the little fecker certainly isnt going to be happy, what you going to do? Take welding gloves out with you? Apart from that, the chances of them getting along with your other ferrets are slim. A ferret will do the job you want, hence why we call it "ferreting" not "polecating" Anyway, if your still set on getting a polecat, this weeks C.M.W take a look, £30 each Personally i'd laugh my socks off if someone asked me for £30 in exchange for a "polecat" (ie; a very dark coloured ferret, not a wild polecat, do people think we are thick ) Quote Link to post
Guest Frank
I have seen that add, their probably ferrets. The things people do to get rid of ferrets. Frank. Quote Link to post

Rabbithunter 456
I have in the past trapped two wild polecats (accidently) and they are bloody viscous, and their ear piercing screams would be enough to wake you up in the night. Quote Link to post

Guest wickidweasel
Ive sold kits for £25 each before so a true polecat at £30 would be a bargain Quote Link to post
Cupid Stunt 18
Ive sold kits for £25 each before so a true polecat at £30 would be a bargain Why just because you've found mugs to part with £25? Quote Link to post
thumbless 0
A couple of years a go someone bought a Polecat hybrid kit at scone. She was named WHIZZ as she moved fast. When you tried to pick her up, she turned and bit, repeatedly 3 times to the bone then locked her jaws. Tried ferreting with her but she was a buggar to catch when out of the hole, Kept slipping her locator didnt make any difference how tight tou fastend it to her. At this point she was renamed FANG. Had her ferreting one summers day and she came out of the hole and chased my partner up and down the field in her bare feet, i nearly pissed my self laughing. One day i used her on some easy holes which were unhabitated to try her out, she stuck her head out and when i went in she disapeared again, tried digging her out but only found the locator. Dug and dug and the burrow narrowed so i dont know if rats had been in the hole, tried a dead rabbit but she wanted to drag it into the hole and let go when i tried to drag her out, she was quick and smart. Dug for about 3 hours and as it was getting dark i filled in the hole in, next day i saw a hole where she had dug her self out, no sign of her for about 10 days, Was trapping rats at the time and one had its head chewed off, the next day i caught FANG in one of the Rat traps. She had lost a lot of weight, later swaped her to a polecat man for another ferret. Ive learned my lesson and wont be getting any more Polecat Hybrids. The avereage price for a ferret round here is £15-20 so for the sake of an extra tenner for somthing a little different IMO would be a bargain. If the guys up north hes having a laugth cos its overun. I was holding a Hybrid a month ago it was as good as gold and put the PR ferrets to shame I would have paid a lot more than £30 if it was up for grabs. Quote Link to post
