countrymaid 2
Ive just bought some more land in the next villiage and my partner has spent the last few days, cutting/turning the grass on the field for us to bale it today. He's spent most of the day at the field and he has counted atleast 5 lots of dog owners excercising there dogs off the leads in this field. The field is entered by a Devon County maintained style and it clearly has atleast 2 signs on it telling dog owners to keep there dogs under control and on leads. Ive always believed that the laws are the same as dogs being walked on a public footpath next to a highway that they must be on a lead. Can somebody please tell me the laws on this, im going to contact our local dog warden tommorow and see if he can shed any light on this. Im planning on mix grazing it at the weekend with a few broodmares/foals and some cattle and im not going to be impressed if any of my livestock get hurt.

I always have the dogs off lead but within a couple of meters from me if the bullocks come close the dogs leave it up to me to sort it without commotion they're well stock trained. This i think is not the law but is acceptable! if any damage is done to your stock and you know who did it then it is a matter for the police and if they investigate and cannot find a criminal crime you may have to launch civil proceedings. or just give the offending dog a long range peppering

Mars 42
As someone has already put perhaps the initial aproach would be to put a polite notice, Until you know exactly where you stand leagaly. One sign i always remember seeing was. Could you cross this field in 9.8 seconds cos my Bull can cross it in 10, with a picture of an angry Bull Mars..

bullmastiff 615
I believe that dogs must not only be kept on leads but under strict control whilst crossing private land. I'd guess that the same people have regularly let their dogs off to run in that field and have never been corrected about it. As your parthers working in the field anyway get him to tell them politely then also erect a larger sign on the stile.
rabbit tourmentor 29
i know of a sign near me that says "are dogs are fed on johovas witnesses" must have seen it 20 times still cracks me up then again so do small people lol there is an 1970 sumthing act that your dog must be on a lead or under control or something whilst walking through the countryside i know as i tryed to use it as an ecuse when my dog encountered a deer and i got caught
