Ellir, apologies sent ! I obviously dont know what history lies beneath the surface, it's just all I read on here is squabbling and falling out,

I agree with ya on that mate, someone asks for info, then you get all the knobs coming out of the wood work, with comments like,"you'll be shot or you'll be eating through a straw" ect. I've had the same shit. :diablo:

tbh you will get shot at it was only an air rifle and i think he meant to miss me but at scared me all the same i'll never do it again thats for sure :(

If you snared on my land, I would go for a full prosecution regardless of cost, or just shoot you in the head.

better make sure I dont go on Mr Glass's land or take a tin hat !

funny isnt it, how split this is...fella's with permission and well fella's without !

It wouldn't bother me so much if it was with an air rifle but snares, and things like fenn traps that could do some real damage to the land owners pets etc, is completely out of order.

But also your shooting yourself in the foot, if you get caught poaching, your never going to get permission anywhere ever again to hunt.

Farms know each other and so do land owners, once they get talking about what you've done, your never getting permission.

and if no one wants you on their land in the first place either

1. Buy some land.

2. Quit hunting.

3. Try harder to get permission.

Mate, I never said I was going to do it, for heavens sake Ive not even got 1 (singular) snare, I was walking passed the area which is like I said common land with no homes within a several miles, it's not a farm, or estate, so no game keeper, rangers etc, I was just frustrated at the damage the bunnys are doing to the said shrubery and saplings etc,

so I thought what about if I just set a few snares to A keep the numbers down and B put a few in my pot, thats it, simple, but again were all going ott and falling out, chill out mate, im on your team

origional post

"Hi, good thread this, I dont want to hijack it but can I ask advice, I have an old filled in canal at the back of my property, now used as a nature type trail, I often walk it with the pooch, well it has segregated areas for planting, shrubs, bush's etc, these are separated by chicken wire fences, well over time the rabbits have got in and are causing havoc in there, warrens everywhere, damage to the shrubs etc, well there runs are as clear as day, Ive never done snaring in my life, but would really like to pull some bunnies for the pot and the pooch's barf diet, so, lets say if someone not me was to buy 10 - 20 snares and visit this place last at night and first in morning if caught would I errr he expect to get a large fine ? and be in trouble, Ive never been in trouble in my life, and I er dont think he has, but when someone mentions poaching, I dont think of Rabbit as poaching, is it in your opinion ? I always thought poaching was on an estate type thingy, going after game, pheasant, grouse, deer etc etc for god sake would you be in trouble for setting a rat trap ?

advice appreciated

Craig"
