Spot on, there are [bitza's] and ive have seen his site. Anybody can put a name to a lurcher and call it what the feck you [like]. But the name [Tumbler] is a name of a type [pigeon]. And if i breed my dog, and he his Great [jumper+agile] , i will call the line [jump-ag] and i must remember to keep them in a kennel, not in a feckin loft :wallbash: .

true , they are bitzas .... because eventually you have to outcross , adding to the gene pool , so does that mean there not of his bloodline , ..... there are many chaps who out x , but there pups are still sold as their line, or is this not the case ??

Now can someone tell me the difference between the 3 ? ? Because I've seen a few dog's that come from "His" Line's and they all look the same to me

depends whats in fashion that week suppose or what someone asks for .its that old romantic image of times long since gone that people think they are buying a peice of were these legendery lurchers any better than the dogs today ? different maybe because of the type and style of hunting back then but i doubt better

There's some tumbler types on here but as was said i think the Norfolk Tumbler is no longer.

tumbler

I could be wrong here and i stand to be corected but lurchers are just that they lurch when coursing their prey so if a rabbit turns left dog turns left same when they turn right and its nose to tail all the way. Tumblers are dogs that look to cut their quarries line of escaape off.. so often running away from its quarry. These dogs were used as i believe before lamping took of in a big way in the daytime.

No a Tumbler is a type of racing [Pigeon] fact. When i was kid , they had them by me. I used talk to the bloke about them, it was there style of flying. Feck all to do with [lurchers], just another [Con Trick]

if a tumbler has got nothing to do with lurchers then i think J BURREL is f****d , as the breed has been in his family for generations , and he is still selling them to this day ......... fact

He should be cos hes full of shit.

I think if you had a strain and outcrossed for whatever reason it should be of the same type and also if possible have some of the same blood in it.Yo u would then dilute that blood back into your strain, but your right it means the blood will have changed but hopefully it should run along the same lines if it works, but it could also undo alot and cause problems.

What is the point though of having a so called ancient strain and then outcrossing it to a picardy sheepdog or a racing whippet

The reason for Tumbler,Smithfield,Norfolk lurcher, is to explain away all the diffrent shapes and sizes in a litter when in actual fact if they were a strain they would be reasonably uniform.yOU CAN GET BULLSHIT A LOT CHEAPER THAN THAT.

Ah! The secret is in how they catch their prey: or this is what the famous man himself told me LOL So anyone who has a dog that rolls with its prey in a rugby tackle type strike can be called a tumbler in that case :whistling::tongue2:
