There's some tumbler types on here but as was said i think the Norfolk Tumbler is no longer.

tumbler

I could be wrong here and i stand to be corected but lurchers are just that they lurch when coursing their prey so if a rabbit turns left dog turns left same when they turn right and its nose to tail all the way. Tumblers are dogs that look to cut their quarries line of escaape off.. so often running away from its quarry. These dogs were used as i believe before lamping took of in a big way in the daytime.

I must correct you on a little something jt and I sincerley hope you dont mind me doing so! Some dogs do tumble when right behind their quarry. A lot of years ago I had one, a dog called. "BEN". Now Ben was too big, too fast for his own good and he hardley ever in his life turned left or right when he was on a rabbit or hares scut. When Ben got close enough to his quarry he folded his legs up and struck nearly always ending in a 'tumble, the quarry was often in his mouth after such a spectacular strike, but if he missed he knew had the speed to get back on turms and have another go. Because of his do or die atittude, and speed, his working carreer was very short lived. Last year I had one of Jeff Burrells dogs, a so called Smithfield Tumbler, it was a lurcher to me and always will be. This young bitch "Molly" also went off her feet ending in a tumble in-order to catch her quarry, weather or not that was a coincedence I dont know. The young bitch never suited me for loads of reasons and has been re-homed. I will try and put a picture up her.

Lovely bitch Warren.

If anyone wants to know about the Tumbler, open up the very old dog books and read about them for yourself.

"The truth is out there"

I have no doubt that this breed did exist.

In my opinion, the fox is the closest thing you will find to a true Tumbler nowadays.

what i thought was a tumbler lurcher was a wire haired dog of a bit of everything init

i was told they were bred for working in small fields thats part the reason they tumble

so what old book would they be in and do you keep them in kennels or a loft.

if a tumbler has got nothing to do with lurchers then i think J BURREL is f****d , as the breed has been in his family for generations , and he is still selling them to this day ......... fact
