We where walking behind trees and a local man shot at a fox, But he hit me instead! I thought I was dead for about ten seconds!
Bosun11 537
Mentioned me being shot at on the other 'shooting dogs' thred, it's a scary thing.... As for gettin a hiding, it's happened once, when I was about 14. We were ferreting a Waterboard plant, slap bang in the middle of a very famous, local sporting estate. We had done it before, reconing we were safe as houses, big fence around it and ferreting along the banks of the river. A few bunnys out, i'm just necking one and the underkeeper pops out of feckin nowhere, 12's under his arm and he's raging :realmad:. The first instinct is flight but my best polecat hob is still down and I ain't leavin that so it's plead your case.... Which I'm doing but he ain't takin me on. The ferret pops out and with us stock still down the bank, he goes for a little wander, the underkeeper askes who's ferret it is and as I told him, raised his gun and 'Boom', my hob was a red ruin ! I gave him a right mouthfull as the old head keeper appeared and started to rage too. The underkeeper strided over and asked for the dead rabbit I hadn't realised I was still holding, he snatched it off me and then fecking battered me with it!!! Christ it hurt!!! He was kicking me up the arse, off the floor when the old bill arrived, i'm in a bit of a mess and blurting that he'd shot me ferret, the officer f*****g flipped!! Got right in the underkeepers face, tellin him he'd arrest him for discharging a firearm in such proximity to children and that violence to a minor would not be tollerated etc. The underkeeper shat his pants, bleating about us poaching, theiving little.... But it wern't doin any good. I got a "you all right son, yer, then get yourselves home now" and we packed up sharpish, leaving two police 'blazing' at a very red faced underkeeper, with the head keeper trying to plead his case.... Got my own back and then some, over the following years, that underkeeper is now the headkeeper and i'm moving house soon, just down the road .... Might just have to get me a faster dog and re-aquaint myself.....

poacher3161 1,766
Been shot at,.punched, beaten,..run over,..and seen one or two good old lamping jukels whacked with rifles.... Its not right,.and I regret so many things that took place in the late 's,..but,.if you are out killing every possible night,..then sure as eggs is fecking eggs,..you will eventually meet up with the enemy... However,..such things for me were part and parcel of the business,..and same as when you fall off a horse,..you just got to get back on him again,..and as soon as we had paid our fines,...we always went straight out and earned the vonga back.. Anyway,...just 'old man's tales',...it's all done and dusted now... .... All the best,.CHALKWARREN.... Sums it all up in one like you say old man's tales and we have all got a few to tell atvb
