i was poaching on land years ago and i got shot but here comes the best part it wasnt the farmer that shot me it was the lad that was with me :icon_eek:

Well Scent at least you had someone else to blame mate,i shot myself once!!.Shooting pigeons for my ferrets and stubbed the barrel into the ground, when i went to break it to clear out the mud i tripped and pulled the trigger shooting myself in the little finger. To say it a stupid thing to do is taking it easy and the laughs at home at me and at the hospital(i couldn't squeeze the pellet out)rubbed salt into the wound i can tell you :icon_redface: .

imagine trying to pick out dozens of the b*****ds it was a shotgun i got shot with :icon_eek:

Some of the farmers on here sound like they are mental!! i caught some people on our land a couple of years ago late one night when me and my son was out lamping, i put the lamp on them and walked upto them and asked them what they where doing there. One of the blokes got mouthy with me and wanted to know who i was and what i was doing there!!

Well that got me mad!!! they had guns but it turned out that they had rung my father in law earlier in the evening and asked if they could go and shoot a few bunnies/foxes but he hadent told me.

My partner wasent very happy with me when i got in as he said if they had been dangerous poachers i would have been in trouble, those blokes have never lived it down getting a lady farmer giving them hell.

We,ve all seen the topic about the dogs being shot etc etc...

Have you ever been caught/chased by the keepers or landowners etc etc and beaten up or got into a fight of some sort ?

I,ve been shot at when i was younger..but it was from a distance and im sure the farmer knew he was only peppering the trees above us whilst we were making a hasty retreat... still shit mi pants though..hehee.

i remember being shot at years ago when i was with a few mates. the farmer was on the other side of this big valley field it was full of flints and we could hear the bullets land on the flints near us! he was on his quad.to get back to the car we had to walk past his land rover say we shot all his windows out with our catapults

Was ferreting one morning 25 years ago..with 4 mates..all older than me..we were not on permission..but 2 of us were in a graveyard at one side of the fence/railing and the other two were on the farmers side.. in our excitement we never saw the farmer and big strong workers sneaking up..they managed to grab one of the lads and gave him a good and propper beating..while a couple of the others stopped us from trying to jump over and help him.

when they had finished they threw him back over fence like they do on them cowboy films..hehee....he landed in a right heap of blood and snot.!

we used to make a point of lamping his farm everytime we went out for years...used to wake him up when we knew we were far enough away for a chase...heheeee.... we put the beam straight on his bedroom window...the nasty old bugger.

It was october 85 and after i had finished on afternoons at the pit i made my way on to the outskirts of the local estate just me a lamp and two dogs it was not the best of nights with a quarter moon in the sky and just a slight breeze. The first feild i lamped the young bitch i had put 2 rabbits in the bag well rucksack that was also carrying a motorbike battery housed in a cut down gallon container. On reaching the bottom of the feild i started to get over the fence on to a lane as i looked down the lane i could see a 4x4 comeing towards me with it's headlights off i climbed back over the fence into the feild i heard somebody shout then a shot rang out that came past my ears with sutch force the second shot took my legs from under me after hitting me in the back and arms as i was crawling up the feild another shot rang out and pepperd me down my left leg the last shot went wide into the edge. The strangest thing is everything seemed to happen in slow motion i managed to get over the brough of the feild wer thankfully my two dogs came to me unharmed. The adrenalin had kicked in and i was not in pain but wat worried me was the partcial loss of feeling in my right arm and hand. I watched the 4x4 drive off easily recognising it by its large white fibreglass top.To cut a long story short i was in hospital 5 days and then had to have surgery to remove pellets that wer lodged on a nerve in my arm luckily the rucksack with the rabbits and battery had took most of the impact.atvb

Good few yers ago Dog and I got threatened. told police, as usual they did nothing.

i went back, told farmer that if he ever touched my dog i'd touch his family. Result, no more threats.

I got personal with this wa***r as 'doing it correctly' didn't work. once he cottoned on to the fact i meant what i said, and that i'd got all day and night for payback, he become more "reasonable".

been shot in the chest and face with a shotty at distance years ago , also got a bust jaw while playing tug of war with a gun barrell in my hand (scary moment).

its the long distance shots that scared me tho , me and a pal was climbing over a fence and the top bar of the fence shattered and spintered everywhere , our friendly keeper was a top shot with the rifle :(

needless to say it gets them nowhere , most people just go back and do all there birds or livestock ( so ive been told).

no need to poach round me tho as i have plenty of permission these days.

poaching is bad :clapper:;)

QUOTE (brookie @ Jun 22 2009, 11:03 PM) *

i was shot in the lower back about twenty years ago while getting chased on the fish over glasbury way which is by hay on wye that was the worst chase ive ever had nd ive had a few in my time it came on about half twelve and we finally shook em of about six in the morning i lost my trainer in a bog running through it it was driving sleet all night and every where we run they seemed to find us again and the chase on again around the hills i remember thinking ive never been so cold in the end we managed to get away and get down into glasbury village and hide in a garden behind the bustop and ring a mate to pick us up and home to go. it hit the local news as well the keeper had got worried apparently and had rung old bill and said hed shot at a dog and got worried because he heard voices after he had fired the gun ohmy.gif who ever he was he was a mad fecker alright ive never before or since been run by anyone so determined to catch some one as desperate as him and his team i used to be very fit in them days a good thing i was clapper.gif
