slimshady, i am with you on that one ten yard slips are ridiculous, i am old enough to have been a running member of quite a few different coursing clubs over the years, purebred and lurchers, till the ban came in, in that time i was a running member of two different whippet coursing clubs, whippets got the shortest slip of all purebreds to give the hare fair law, even they gave the hare at least a minimum of fifty yards, cant really call ten yards fair, sounds like you have seen it done though, but to be fair i havent, except one or twice in my lifetime i have seen it where the slipper has made a mistake, i have seen lads do it in the past though when coursing was legal, and then try to say there dog is a good hare dog, not in my book.

ive had several good hare dogs, ive owned dogs who wasnt up to it and ive had just as many dogs who could run all day but wouldnt take there quarry pre ban,but when i see dvds of coursing men sliping on hares just getting out of there seat it makes me cringe,on my permission 90% of the landowners would throw me off there land if they caught me doing this,i just cant see what it proves ?

where i live ,i take my dogs to a specialist in greyhounds, and it is full of fools on a sunday morning who are bragging that there dogs can catch 5 or 6 when reallisicallly they would struggle too catch one single handed

or maybe im just a fool for buying the dvds !
