sumkiller 0
do use think its a waste of time having it on rabbits and foxs when its a bit older, or do use think the weight of the dog and the joint problems it cud have will be a problem ? ADVICCCEEE !! Quote Link to post
lurcher lass 9
as with any dog, it depends on the parents of the pup, were the parents health checked especially the germen shepherd, a shepherd is a light build of dog so weight shouldn't be a problem and by rights you'd have the brains of a shepherd for trainabilty and the speed and instinct of a greyhound.....hopefully! but as i say in regards with health problems it depends on the parents and you probably should have checked this out before getting the pup wish you all the best lurcher lass Quote Link to post

DeanD 3
What does one look like? I've wondered if the Plummer Lurcher doesn't have either GSD or Belgian Malinios in them possibly? I would think the Malinois might be a very good cross... very smart, intense dogs. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8mLqiqLlnJo & And lastly... Belgians make some Great Beer! Wild_and_Irish 11
If it is bred from a show dog there is a good chance of it having the bad back legs and hips, if its from a working line of GS it should be ok. Quote Link to post
aaron01 737
i had the plesaure of owning a gs cross a few years ago he was a 3quarter grey 1 quarter gs and he was a demon in the field there was no reverse gear in this dog i tell you but sadly i bought the dog from an old boy who was big into hunting but big into drinking as well when he went on the drink he sold everything and when he was off it he always had diffrent lurchers and terriers so you never really knew the back ground to the dog any way i was only a young fella and my funds where limited so i bought the dog and thought i touched lucky but it turns out the dog had never had his injections and after 9mths of good hunting with me the dog caught distemper and died another hard lesson learned for me always find out the background to a dog and take all precautions with them cause a good ones hard to find Quote Link to post

heart of wales 19
I have had quite a few Lurchers so did my Grandad and Uncles, many different crosses bull x collie x saluki cross bedlington x airdalex on different terrains on different quarry have seen excellent world beaters have seen shit,Both parents are a good start, grandparents a bonus, wouldn't touch a show German Shepherd with a barge pole let alone breed from it,I have Five all working,Highly intelligent good temperament and stamina. My German Shepherd Grey cross will do rabbits on the lamp for fun she has excellent prey drive in her first season she retrieved four shot hares, calm as hell when ferreting or netting ,yet when the rabbits bolt she is there, this season she will be going up a gear, then I will decide weather to breed from her,Iam not that bothered currently as she is ticking all the boxes,I was out moling the other day she hates my truck so I always let her out when I stop I mole four hundred acres she was alongside that truck all the time at the end of it she could have gone on longer, Quote Link to post
