moonlighter 1,164
turk , i have been reading all these threads about golly and all that has been said about golly from other members . so i have a question for you... was golly the best dog dog on your yard ????? the reason i ask the question is , over the last 2 season's , i have been out with a very good mate of mine who now has ricky and have seen this dog work night after night day after day with no bother at all with him , he has never refused anything that has been put in front of him, i have never seen a bull x whip rabbits up like he does and bring them back live to hand .... yet every time i switch on to the hunting life, there is always something about golly yet nothing about ricky , and most people you talk to at shows say that ricky is a better dog than golly , now im not saying this is true because i have never seen golly work, but i have seen ricky work , i would say he takes some beating , im not say he is the best bull x in the country because that would be silly ... so i would like to hear your honest opinion of who was the best dog on your yard . i have spoke to my mate who has ricky ,he said he does not mind me putting this thread up and said he didn't think you would mind me asking the question on a open forum . so to all the other lads and lasses on here that will read this, please do not turn it into a slagging or bitching match. by all means have your say ... but please keep it civil ... turk 79
in my eyes all the bull xs on my yard was very good ricky was probably my favourit thats why he was with me for over 7 years only reason was not because he was better than any other dog its because he was hassle free he wasnt a fighter wasnt bothered with live stock he would work by the side of a terrier you could lamp him with no lead he was a very good all rounder golly can catch rabbits etc but realisticly hes bred for one thing but all the bulls on my yard all had their uses and some was better than others at doing somethings but all good dogs if youve seen rick work you should of seen him when he was younger you can imagine Quote Link to post

Garypco 3
Good reply turk .... cant beat an honest answer like that mate....sounds like ricky was an honest dog in his time too!!! Quote Link to post
turk 79
wag i no you own the dog now can you answer why the ricky dog was sold to you ? amb who sold the dog to you said he parted with him because he refused a end on more than one occasion for starters amb knew the dog wouldent travel up the hole out of sight which i told him that when he had the dog off me but if your terriers are how they should be it would make no didderence about traveling tubes because when you break through the quarry should be right their so he dont need to travel the tubes so thats bullshit and when ever he could see the quarry iv had him locked for 15 minutes iv had to dig around him because it was fastened its as good as any dog iv seen hes never let me down so less of the bitchyness and talking shit i thought you was my mate not running my dogs down on an open forum talking shit befor you know any thing about him youve never seen him work Quote Link to post
wag 13
wag i no you own the dog now can you answer why the ricky dog was sold to you ? amb who sold the dog to you said he parted with him because he refused a end on more than one occasion lurcher 4, yes i do own the dog but if we`re going to get into a bitching match lets do it through pm and not on a open forum .. but if your trying to make me look a c*nt on the forum well thats a different matter ,and you better get your facts right first, i had ricky on loan for 3 months before i bought him , i did my home work before he was bought by me , i phoned turk and he told me everthing about ricky and turk was true to his word about him ... .. so there are the fact's !!! so its seems that you have been told different haven't you Quote Link to post
lucky 578
its seems Golly was a shade better than Ricky when it came to earthwork, so would it be fair to say they were both about equal on top ???? Quote Link to post
Guest NICOLA
not meaning to cause an argument but dont know how you can compare two completley diffrent dogs!! all bull crosses are gonna vary in what they do you never get to exactly the same in work style ricky may be better at catching but then golly will go up a tube so they are both brilliant dogs i there own right in my opinion as long as your happy with what you got dont think it matters!!
