How do you work out the protein if you add stuff to the biccies.I was told recently its add the two protein amounts together then half it but surely thats not right if your giving them extra?

If feeding "biccies", take it you mean dog biscuits rather than complete feeds, then they have a low protien content so you need to add it in more. If feeding complete the feeding a small amount of meat to a low protein version shouldn't increase to much especially if you also counterbalence with some vegtables. Each needs to be tailored to meet he requirements of the individual dog and wishes of the owner.

I feed complete but have changed to a differnt meal and occassionally add tinned meat or pilchards or what have you to it.I was told that if for egsample your meal was 20%and you gave them a tin of meat on top of that at 6% you would get 26%and half it so thus the total ending up as only 13% but surely if your adding it to the normal rations it would end up 26%

In reallity it's slightly more complicated than that but for a general rule of thumb it will do. If your feeding a 20% protein feed then boosting with a higher protein source such as meat or fish may well benifit a working dog.
