johnbhoy 1
the only thing about starting them early is the fear of them opening up(barking). once they do that then your f****d. a would wait a year mate jist to make sure the dogs mature enough then when u dae take it out just try go fur the clampers. u will know urself when ur dog is ready. nobody can tell u when ur dogs ready atb mate Quote Link to post
BLUCHER 1
I would wait until the dog was reasonably mentally mature, all dogs vary on this one, and then try and give it a dead cert squatter, as mentioned trying too early frustrates some dogs and youl end up with a yapper, one hell of a problem to cure. Anyway good look with it mate Quote Link to post
bigkiel 7
i would probably wait you have a dog to run till hes ready no harm in waiting Quote Link to post

moonlighter 1,164
i start my dogs early, but i dont mean lamping rabbits as in my neck of the woods they are never far from cover and take some catching for a pup. I take them out bushing from an early age, getting them use to hunting up and using there nose. they soon learn to find young rabbits, pheasants and moorhens and it seems to make mine keen as hell. the pup ive got know went lamping at about 10 months but only once a week for 2 or 3 runs. I offen spent more time in the van driving to the lamping field than i did lamping but i feel it pays off in the long run. Quote Link to post
