dicehorn 38
There is no mystery with these coloured rabbits. They were from domestic escapees originally that escaped from cages and mated up with the local wild population perhaps ten years ago. Over many rabbit generations the colour gene will re appear to an ordinary pair of wild rabbits. I have seen a several occasions a litter of kittens feeding outside their burrow with one of them showing the usual signs of the domestic colour Quote Link to post

Guest MickyB
Ive had ginger , black , silver , blue and parsons rabbits over the years . I regularly get black, and in places get some with white front legs, also had a few gingers. Last year shot a white one with black spots probably an escaped or released pet (looked like the 'english' variety). Ive never seen a blue rabbit...... and foxhunter, can i ask what a parsons rabbit is? Cheers Micky Quote Link to post
Yokel Matt 918
I know many of you will have seen odd coloured rabbits but here in wiltshire seeing a rabbit is odd at times .Took Local out for a stalk the other evening and thought i'd take the .22 to see if the ginger rabbit was about that id seen previously .The long and short was that although we saw plenty of does ,we never saw a buck but did manage the ginger rabbit off sticks as i rounded a corner .Shot a normal one for comparison to feed the dogs as well . Really enjoyed the stalk mate it just nice to be out there doing it and getting the experiance that you don't find in books. I've been trying to get a thread up on the evening but been flat out at work and home connection is shite Time to pay for my own internet me thinks Personally i've never seen a wild ginger rabbit before Quote Link to post

Cheers Micky A parsons rabbit is a normal coloured rabbit but with a white collar ( like a priest ) therefore called a parsons rabbit........... Like the rabbit in one of the above pics............
