fielder 18
has anyone had any experience here or abroad with rhodesian ridgebacks or xs, do they respond well to command, does there size make them too slow for catching any larger quarry by themselves, would they just make a valued member to a larger working team.any info/pics/stories would be appreciated. So, does anyone know how they respond to basic training etc? Quote Link to post
donk 12
Cant imagine a pure ridgeback taking much in the way of british game? They look a bit heavy for catching anything, can imagine they would make a mess of anything they did catch though Quote Link to post

I have a ridgeback x at the moment currently 10 months and theres also 3 other dogs from the same litter with friends of mine, all 4 of the dogs seem alot more biddable and steadier than your average bull x ???? Simoman 110
Perhaps you are lucky with a biddable litter or your a gifted trainer, worked with a few and they were like pulling teeth.............Not very drivey or handler orientated................. Perhaps I should clarify Im talking about pure ridgebacks, I have no experience of crosses.......... Quote Link to post
coneycatcher17 3
I reckon they"d be mental Quote Link to post

You could be right as there is only 1/4 ridgeback in these pups, I've found other ridgeback x's to have good drive etc but they were not as wreckless or headstrong as the bull x??? I havnt any experience with pure ridgebacks. Quote Link to post

allgame 0
heard there abit soft bailers not luggers on pigs , dont imagen a half cross being very quick or very tough, hardy dogs with good noses but Quote Link to post
stevemac 442
I own this one he doesnt were the breast plate because he is soft. He has an exerlent nose and a fare turn of speed though no sight hound Bails hard on the big ones and will catch his own out of a mob. Ive had the breed for 30yrs and I wouldnt say he is typical but the good ones can be found. Quote Link to post
